Five Stars – A Perfect Getaway! This place is ideal for both short and long stays! We were really satisfied with the service and loved the location — it’s super close to the ocean and just a short car ride (or a 15 -20 minute bike ride) to the center of Saint Gilles Croix de Vie. The facilities were all new or freshly renovated and looked great. The staff was friendly, helpful, and spoke English, which made everything easy. It's also very child-friendly — the playgrounds are surrounded by little wooden fences and located right next to the snack bar, so parents can relax with a drink while keeping an eye on the kids nearby. The beach was absolutely beautiful and felt almost private — calm, spacious, and perfect for swimming even in May. What I loved most was the mix of long, flat sandy beach and rocky areas where we found incredible starfish — some as big as my hands! The tide pools were fascinating and great fun for kids to explore. The walk to the beach through the dunes was slightly longer than expected, but it turned out to be a highlight — a peaceful, scenic path with breathtaking ocean views. Morning jogs there were one of the best parts of the trip. All in all, this was a five-star experience. We’ll definitely be back!

On paper it seems great. It's a bit further back from the beach than we thought - not a huge issue 🤷‍♂️ Facilities are fine; nice and clean. However, we visited at the end of the season, so simple thinks like soft cushions to sit on near the bar - can't have because they've been cleaned for season end - surely, they should be cleaned AFTER all paying guests have gone, not just before 🤦‍♂️ Not a huge amount going on in the area - again, not a huge problem, but left us searching for things to do. Would I come again ....... yes, but I'd plan more carefully. Also, be aware ........ the beach you walk to is apparently frequented by naturists AND most importantly, the sea isn't safe to swim in because of strong currents. Naturists are/were not a problem to me (and certainly were none while we were there), but you need to bear that in mind, if your uncomfortable with that. All in all, it was okay, but not outstanding - sorry 🤷‍♂️

We stayed for 5 nights in a 'safari' tent, arriving on foot. The site was very quiet due to Covid, with many pitches unoccupied. There are two distinct areas - the static accommodation is mainly around the bar and pool (both of which are attractive, pool not heated though so we didn't use it). The bar has evening 'animation', some of which is fairly low-key (quiz, bingo, karaoke) but two nights were loud concerts which went on until 11.45pm. Great if you like that kind of thing, but our tent was very close and no way the kids could sleep before midnight. The 'camping' end is further away from the bar and much more tranquil, I walked down there one concert night and could only hear the sea. A problem for us was the hot water. There was never any hot water for washing up (although I complained twice), first night no hot showers, and never any hot water for hand washing in the sinks after going to loo. I was told because the campsite was so quiet there was not enough water demand and we should push the taps many times and wait for hot water (we did but never got any). This is not acceptable for a 3 * site which should always have hot water. Anyway, there are signs saying conserve water! They need to put in gel dispensers too at entrance to toilets, as other campsites have. There are only 2 bars of soap in the ladies. Would we go back - yes probably but only with our own tent and I would choose a large pitch far away from the bar area. It is in a nice location - 10 minute walk over dunes to the sea, but the grand plage where everything's at (lifeguards, surf schools, cafes) is a good 30 min walk/ 10 minute cycle away. There's a snack bar and small shop on site which sells all the basics for a meal, which is convenient as the nearest supermarket in Saint Gilles is not...
