Camping Vagues Océanes - Bois Joly — Hotel in Les Sables-d'Olonne

We had great expectations for Le Bois Joly, however on arriving we were disappointed with just how basic our chalet was. The chalet was clean and tidy as was the whole site but it was very basic compared with the UK campsites I have been to.||||The site does not seem to be bothered with english speaking guests. Very few members of staff speak any english and the welcome meeting was soley in French. ||||Good things:||Pool area is great for kids||Bike hire is reasonably priced||The whole site is clean and tidy||Good location||The take away food is good||||Not so good:||Chalets are very small and basic, not even a kettle, toaster or cooker.||The pillows are awful||Bring your own mugs if you want a decent cup of tea||Nowhere near enough sun beds around the pool (we bought some chairs and took them to the pool)||Staff not interested in english guests||Bar staff are not very friendly||No AC anywhere and the Bar gets very busy and stuffy||The childrens play area is run down and basic.||||On the whole, we would not return to, or recommend this site. Really great campsite with excellent entertainment and a fantastic pool area. The staff were very friendly and made a good effort to involve my non-french speaking daughter in the kids club activities. Only 2 slight downsides - not providing toilet paper and not managing sun bed hogging, both of which were better at the sister camp site Les Chouans. But overall we had a great time :)

Back for a second year, another excellent holiday. Particular highlights this year were all the bands that played in the bar which were absolutely fantastic. Staff are really friendly, big shout out to the lifeguard who helped find my daughter's lost Fitbit in the lazy river. Extrêmement déçu par ce CapFun. Nous ne nous attendions pas à un tel niveau, surtout venant de cette enseigne qui est en général de qualité.

👉 Sanitaires : laissent à désirer au niveau de la propreté, mais cela est dû surtout au manque de respect de certains campeurs et non aux salariés. Eau des douches souvent froide, parfois chaude mais aléatoire. Si on veut de l’eau chaude, il faut patienter longtemps… Toilettes mal entretenues, parfois sans papier la nuit. Malgré nos signalements répétés à l’accueil, la réactivité laisse vraiment à désirer. Pas à la hauteur d’un CapFun. 👉 Animations : très décevantes. Les animateurs CapFun manquent d’entrain, certaines animations sont d’un niveau très bas (ex. mini-club “fabrication d’une épée” = simple dessin sur une feuille). Heureusement, une animation extérieure sur le thème des comédies musicales a été exceptionnelle et a sauvé notre semaine, car sinon les soirées étaient ennuyeuses. Nos enfants (10 et 15 ans) se sont fortement ennuyés : il n’y a rien de prévu pour eux. 👉 Piscine & bar : pas de transats, seulement quelques chaises prises d’assaut. Les serviettes sont laissées dessus toute la journée. Complexe aquatique très limité : les enfants ont vite fait le tour et s’ennuient, impossible d’y passer un après-midi entier. Pas d’accès direct au bar pourtant collé à la piscine, et au bar pas de service à table. 👉 Équipements : pas de vrai terrain de pétanque, juste un terrain vague. En revanche, le parc enfant avec le grand château gonflable est très apprécié et semble récent, un vrai plus pour les petits. Les deux city-stades proposés par le camping sont également très bien, neufs et fonctionnels. 👉 Ambiance : une nuit infernale de bruit (3h à 7h30 du matin) avant que ce soit enfin réglé après plainte à l’accueil.

🔸 Points positifs : la tente aménagée était sympa et propre, beaucoup de mobil-homes récents, les deux city-stades neufs et pratiques, le parc enfant avec son grand château est un vrai atout, l’accueil prête des jeux de société, et la localisation du camping est pratique (2 km de la plage, du centre et d’un marché couvert, 3 km de Lidl et Intermarché). À l’extérieur, je conseille le mini-golf voisin, pas cher et très agréable, avec un patron très serviable.

Mais globalement, on paye ici la marque CapFun et non les prestations. Rien à voir avec d’autres CapFun que nous avons connus, bien plus animés et qualitatifs. Nous ne reviendrons jamais et nous sommes...
