Our teenagers chose this holiday and we were a bit worried, but actually, it was perfect for what we wanted. ||Due to bad traffic, we missed the welcome from Reception as we arrived too late (it closed at 8pm), but there was an envelope waiting for us and our accommodation was unlocked. We visited Reception several times during our stay and the staff were ALL very helpful and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. ||We stayed in a Bahia Premium cottage mobile home, which we were glad about. It had air con, which was used a lot as we had a fortnight of very hot weather. It also had a coffee machine, 2 tvs, dishwasher, and wifi for 3 devices. On arrival, all the kitchen equipment is placed on the kitchen table so that you know you have the correct number of items. You also have packs of bedding to make the beds. They do NOT provide duvet covers. The mobile was immaculately clean and well equipped. It had everything we needed and was very modern. The covered terrace was great for evening meals. The gas bbq was clean on arrival and we used it every night as there is no oven- only a hob. There is an Aldi 500m from the campsite which us open 8 am to 8 pm in high season and it is well stocked. ||The pool was fantastic. It was clean and safe. The slides were excellent, the best we've ever been to, and our two teenagers were well entertained. It was good that no food was permitted at the pool area, and saving sunbeds was also not allowed. It meant there were always sunbeds available. If we had younger children, we'd have been glad of the lifeguards too. Be warned, they are very strict on men and boys wearing fitted trunks, not baggy swim shorts! You will be asked to leave the pool if you do not have fitted shorts!||We also made use of the laundry on site which was helpful in meaning we didn't need to pack as many clothes. Also the price ( €5 for a washing machine, €1 for 10 mins drier)) was fair and cheaper than other campsites that we've stayed at, which have been very expensive. ||The campsite as a whole was very clean and the security teams were excellent. Friendly, but checking everyone had wristbands and keeping us safe. ||The toilet, showers and washing up areas for people in tents, campers and caravans looked brand new and were kept very clean. ||We had a fantastic day out at Lac de Hourtin. There's a fantastic watersports area and beach with supervised swimming. There's a Parc Adventure (Go Ape) there too. ||Also, Montalivet is a thriving town with an excellent market in the mornings. If oysters are your thing, there are several stalls at the market! We went on a Friday morning and it was fab. Lots to eat, drink and buy. Plenty of lovely bars and restaurants in Montalivet and we also went to Soulac Sur Mer, which was lovely too. ||We had no negatives except the 3 hour delay to board the expensive ferry from Royan to Le Verdon (€52 for a car and 2 adults and 2 children). We drive home via Bordeaux through the stunning Medoc wine region which we preferred and was only €7 more on the tolls. From Saintes to Montalivet, via Bordeaux took approx 2.5 hours which is about the same time as going via the ferry when you include driving to the port, boarding the ferry and then driving...
Read moreMy wife vacationed at this campground for the first time 45 years ago. Since then it has been a family tradition to return at regular intervals - last time 5 years ago (because of Corona). We had booked months in advance - unfortunately the site numbers from 2018 were no longer valid. By email we were promised a great spot for our 3 weeks vacation - we were not given an actual plan. Arrived on site, they assigned us a place directly in front of the toilet house (we did not want to be close to the toilet house, because it is very loud). After a complaint at the reception, we only got an other place at the side of the toilet house as an option. Toilet house was set - we were told that everything else was occupied. We stayed for a week - the whole place was half empty. There would have been great possibilities - at least in the time where we were there, to give us another great place. We had signaled our flexibility: to move around or to leave earlier. But they didn't seem interested in a solution. After a week, we told the front desk that we would be leaving almost 2 weeks earlier. Alternative place or price refunds were not offered - we have to bear the costs of the entire period. The campground is becoming more and more like a mobile home site, all looking the same (as already written in other reviews). Not pretty! We hardly recognized the place after 5 years. The beautiful trees have partly disappeared. As compensation there is a pool with loud animation, a reception that hardly speaks German or English and which offers no solutions to complaints. And less and less pitches for campers! This is not how we want to spend our precious vacation time. After now 45 years we will end our family tradition. Really a pity.
From my point of view this campsite does not deserve 4 stars - and I do not recommended it!
I have provided this recession to the campsite 12 days before publication - without...
Read morethis year was the second time we were on vacation here:) like last year we had a great time! the 18+ spa pool is great, really good alternative to the general pool with really comfy seating opportunities! The general pool is great as well though, fun waterslides! The animation program was way better this year than the year before, there really was a huge improvement! you could really see the team had tons of fun dancing and entertaining not only the kids, but the adults as well!! my sisters and i had so much fun with the dances and the choreographies!! thats why i would really love to see a longer danse du soleil at the pool, most of the time it was only three songs. speaking of dancing though, there was one thing i sincerely missed: more opportunities to dance on your own, e.g. having a dj put on some music on the stage one night a week! or maybe making some space for that at the white parties, something like that:) i really liked the choreographed dancing, but i kept wishing for a a little bit more free dancing sessions:) other than that i’m really content with the camping, the sanitaries were clean and well supplied with soap and toilet paper. the new bar area was beautifully made, great snacks and drinks all day long, and not too pricey at all!! the service at the reception as well as at the bar was suuuper friendly, although it was like 10pm and they had been working the whole day! that sums up my impression pretty well, everyone who worked there, if service, animators, or the guys and girls cruising around in the cars seemed polite, friendly, warmhearted and open!! just a great atmosphere...
