Camping Les Ourmes Hourtin — Hotel in Lesparre-Médoc

All in all we had a nice stay at Les Ourmes thanks to the decent pitch we got in the end with nice neighbours, and the animations team.

Before arrival, I checked out the route to the port and to ile aux enfants. According to Google maps, the distance was a lot further than written ot les ourmes website. I contacted the campsite, which replied that "as you are well aware Google maps is not very exact". No, I wasn't aware... during our stay i checked with my Garmin watch. Distance to the port (not the beach at the lake, which is further) is 950 meters. The distance to the entry of ile aux enfants (not the playsground itself, which is further) is also 950 meters. The drive to Hourton plage is 15 minutes.

Upon arrival we were assigned a pitch with no shade right by the entry, boxed in between two roads, the trash area and the parking area with two four year old kids... I asked for another pitch as we were staying for two weeks. This was not possible because we booked close to arrival. This is fair enough, however it would have been good custommer service to let us know this before arrival. The next day we asked for another pitch or our money back. They wouldn't give us a refund, and somehow they found us a reasonnable pitch.

The toilets and showers in the block we used were full of cobwebs. There was a huge bettle in one of the toilet stalls for almost a week. Toiletpaper dispensers outside of the stalls and only one soapdispenser in the block.

The staff drives quite fast around the site and don't seem to comply with the 10 km/h speedlimit even though the place is full of kids on bikes etc.

Finally the staff seems a bit grumpy, and custommer service isn't really a...

We stayed here for a couple of days with our family. Its a nice place in a nice area and we've been here for a while. The sanitary facilities are clean and the places are Overall nice but this year are a lot of dogs and the dog owner are not very nice. It could be possible that you'll find dog excrement next to your table and Dogs pee right next to you against the tree. We talked to other campers they said that they told this the owner for years but it seams that they dont care and this year is even worse. We will skip that place in Future because we have little Kids and the dog-owner let them go without a leash and that is too dangerous for us and the Kids. we also care about clean campgrounds and dont want dog...

We are currently here on site, unfortunately we are not enjoying our stay, services are very basic and our pitch is mediocre. We went to the restaurant for lunch and asked for a menu but they were hosting what looked like a a motorbike rally and it was made obvious we were not welcome so had a drink then left. We then decided to go to the swimming pool but it looks like they were hosting a swimming party for children there as an adult taking pics of around 25 children so again had to leave there. (We couldn’t believe it!) We have already paid up front for 3 nights otherwise we would be leaving.
