First time I have ever written a review and its negative as the story needs to be told.||In OCT 21 , I made a reservation for our group at Chateau Meyre and reconfirmed at least 4 emails that our group booking in FEB 22 ( 5 Rooms) was ok. The hotel took our credit card details to confirm booking with assurance all was 100% fine and even told " yes no problem we have you confirmed" .||Only to find last week they changed their internal reservation systems and cancelled our booking without any notification to us, and are now fully booked.... I only found out as I needed to make a slight change to one of the rooms . Thank goodness I did check.||Something clearly went wrong from the Chateau's side, but why is it my problem when they clearly are in the wrong? They apologised but still we are left with NO booking, most disappointing and stressful to say the least to find somewhere else.||So travellers, be very aware if you made any booking at this property between February and June 2022 as they may not be there!! Dreadful service even though one staffmember tried to find alternative accommodation it wasnt appropriate for our group . Poor response from hotels manager. What if we showed up with no reservation then it would have been a...
Read moreNever believe what the English say of the French - when staying at chateau clos de meyre, you’ll be treated to the amazing hospitality of the chateau, who will make sure your stay is exceptional. |During our stay we visited several wineries, and retired most evenings up on the terrace of the suite, to sample some of our finds and enjoy the beautiful view of the vineyards. |The chateau borders some of the world’s best wine villages, and we certainly enjoyed going around and seeing Margaux, for example. Beautiful castles around and very very green. We also visited Les Dunes de Pilat, which is one of the tallest sand dunes we had ever seen, near Arcachon. Definitely worth a visit west!|Days would start with the lovely breakfast, espresso machine tirelessly turning out coffees, and lovely french baguette and croissants with hams, cheeses and jams on offer. |And, after a hot day going around, it was lovely to cool down at the pool and to enjoy the sun setting, a real treat!|Finally I would like to get back to the first point about the friendliness and hospitality of the staff - after losing my EarPods in the room, they mailed them to my home address, which was exemplary for our entire experience at the hotel. Definitely want to...
Read moreLovely stay at Château Meyre and we would definitely come back.
Beautiful old Château with some rooms in the main original building, and some in the extension. Not all rooms had AC - ours didn't, but it was still quite cool with the shutters and a good tower fan. All very classic but not dated or tired - a very comfy room.
The pool and gym are very good. There are bikes to hire, though we didn't realise €25 per bike until we paid the bill - rather too expensive! Bikes were tough going on the sandy vineyard paths - would give them a miss and just walk to be honest.
We did a vineyard tour and tasted Château Meyre and Gallen - quite a short tour and felt like it should have been included in the stay since it wasn't very long or comprehensive. Best way to enjoy the wine here is to buy a couple bottles, order a charcuterie/cheese board, and enjoy it in the gardens out the front of the château. The wine is excellent and the boards were superb.
Breakfast was very good with eggs cooked to order and local pastries. There are self-service coffee machines available all day.
Service was very warm and the hotel is super relaxed.
We look forward to hopefully returning one day to this...
