You need to really look out for the sign off the main road for this property - it's very subtle! We felt right at home at La Varangue from the first minute. There is tinkling water and pond life, wooden walkways and shady verandahs and a smallish but very clean pool. The architecure and the ambience are pure Reunion Islands - very relaxing. We had the family room with a big and comfortable four poster bed which forms the floor of the extra beds upstairs on the mezzanine. The bathroom is open plan, with twin basins, a large shower cublicle wtih good pressure, and a separate toilet. Not a lot of floor space in the bedroom, but we had a table and chairs outside our room on the communal balcony. It was very hot during our stay but the house was always pleasantly cool.||||The hosts Celine and Philippe are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is relaxed, taken on sofas in the bar by the pool. We would have liked to have dinner on one night but sadly Philippe had his leg in plaster and couldn't cook. He did pour a good rum though!||||It's an easy drive from here to the lake and the beach. Lacanau has got a lot more touristy and crowded since our last visit ten years ago so we ended up driving north to Carcans Plage which has free parking, a good selection of restaurants and a small market on...

Read moreA delightful, quiet and elegant B&B. A beautifully stylish and welcoming retreat that is made for relaxation. The pool is great with secluded areas surrounding it for sun-bathing or shade. The room made great use of the space. The welcome was friendly and informative and set the tone for the stay. Time seemed to slow whilst there. The only downside was the short drive required for restaurants on an evening.||||An ideal location for couples in search of...
