I am a 63 world-traveller, and this was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. It was so bad that my wife and I had to leave after 1 night of our 3 scheduled. Here's why:||When we arrived (soon after the check-in time), the host was not there, and the cleaning lady let us in our room. It turned out it was the wrong room. (The host later offered to let us stay in this “upgraded” room, saying it was better than the other; we never got to see the one we had reserved.) The room REEKED of smoke from the fireplace (so much so that I can't remove the smell from my cpap and other belongings). We didn't say a word about this because it was the least of the problems. There were LOTS of flies in the room (which was decent enough, though a bit shabby in places). After about an hour, the host arrived, and showed us the property. When I asked for a fly-swatter, she was amazed that we would care about a bunch of flies, but she did eventually bring one a couple hours later. We had to spend a LOT of time killing those flies. We also noticed that the screens were not properly in place, accounting for the flies (it was hot, so windows had been left open). Again, when we pointed this out, rather than apologizing, the host seemed amazed that we would care about huge gaps in the window screens..||A while later, the host's elderly husband came around (uninvited), and opened our door without waiting for us to ask him in. He stood in the doorway with the door open and flies buzzing about, just after we had spent so much time killing the flies already in the room. We asked him to come in and close the door right away to keep the flies out, at which he waved his hands about as though WE were crazy. He came in and began walking around our room talking strangely. He said something about a car race around the property scheduled for the next day, but dismissed it as no concern. We had heard NOTHING about that, nor was it listed in the Expedia page on the property, even though it’s an annual event there. We would NOT have booked this place had we known about the race, as we were looking for the peace and quiet advertised on their Expedia page and elsewhere. We asked him when it would be finished, and he said “certainly by 2 PM.” Since this was before our outings were to finished, we weren’t too concerned.||The next morning, as we were relaxing before 2 outings we had planned, we heard continuous sirens for about an hour. We then began to hear the buzzing of the race cars driving immediately outside the property. It was LOUD! The husband came around again to show us how to safely leave the property. Again, he stood in the doorway, and we had to ask again for him to come in and shut the door, which he did with showy belligerence in the slowest possible way while mocking us for caring about the flies. I then asked him to speak with me outside. He lights up a cigarette right outside our window as I explain to him that we are deeply disturbed by the race. At which he begins to mock me again, incredibly. He had absolutely no regard for our concerns. He starts to show me where to go to leave the property, which was itself ridiculous, because it was ABSOLUTELY UNSAFE to do so. He left in a huff. His wife (the host) came a while later and said she would escort us out. When we asked her when it would be finished, she said “around 5”, in direct contradiction with what her husband had said. We had plans to be out until 3 or 4 (my wife had even scheduled a massage for that afternoon), so we expressed to her our concern about how to be escorted back in, with the race still going on. She waved her hands, diminishing our concerns (amazingly to us), finally saying that we should call her and she will escort us back in. We explained that we may not be able to reach her while out (my sim card was being very flaky, and my wife’s iphone, which had been successful in texting her, turned out not to be reliable for this). Again, she was unconcerned. We decided to go to our scheduled appointments and hope for the best.||At this point, though, we told her we didn’t want to stay the remaining two nights. At first, she argued about it, but then, while escorting us out of the property -- which required driving more than 1 km through a vineyard! -- she apparently changed her mind and said she would refund us if that’s what we wanted. While out, we arranged new lodgings for those nights, and failing to contact her, decided to see if we could make it back to the property ourselves. Of course, we couldn’t, because the roads were blocked. We were stuck, unable to reach her. A kind man at the roadblock kindly called her for us (after telling us that the race wouldn’t be over until 7 -- 5 hours after the husband told us, and 3-4 hours after the when the host told us! Fortunately, the kind man got hold of her, and she came to escort us back, at which point, we hurried to our room, packed up and left.||I sent her numerous messages -- both direct and through Expedia -- none of which she responded to. Only after returning to the US was I then able to secure the promised refund through Expedia. Amazing experience. DO NOT STAY...

From the moment we arrived, we were enveloped in the charm of this stunning estate, where every detail felt like a brushstroke in a dream with the smells of Jasmine and roses from the surrounding gardens. We stayed in the exquisite Metal Suite, a spacious haven that instantly felt like home. The suite was a masterpiece of design, boasting a large, indulgent bathtub that invited relaxation and a well-equipped kitchen that added a touch of practicality to the opulence. Cottage windows framed views of the lush grounds, making every morning feel like waking up in a painting. The estate itself is a wonderland. We spent hours wandering the winding paths, each turn revealing new delights—fragrant gardens, ancient trees, and serene corners perfect for quiet reflection. The lake on the property was a highlight, alive with beavers, geese, ducks, and carp gliding through the water. Watching the wildlife at dusk felt like stepping into a nature documentary, with the golden light casting a surreal glow over the scene. Corinne and André, our hosts, were the heart and soul of this experience. Their warmth and attentiveness made us feel like cherished guests in their own home. Corinne’s personal touch was evident every morning when she delivered a breakfast spread that was as beautiful as it was delicious—fresh fruit, creamy yogurt, crunchy granola, buttery croissants, and refreshing juice, all presented with a smile that set the tone for the day. We indulged in the Terrehappy Spa, an oasis of calm that elevated our stay to new heights. The massage melted away every ounce of tension, the steam room enveloped us in soothing warmth, and lounging by the pool felt like a scene from a luxury travel magazine. Each moment in the spa was pure bliss, leaving us refreshed and utterly content. Château Latour Ségur is more than a destination; it’s a feeling—a place where time slows, and every moment sparkles with beauty and care. Corinne and André have created something truly extraordinary, and we left with hearts full, already dreaming of our return. If you’re seeking a retreat that marries elegance with soul, this is it....
