Well! What can I say or how do I leave a accurate review about a hotel we recently stayed in, the Hotel itself is called the Premiere Classe Hotel on Rue Chanzy in the very picturesque City of Lille in Northern France, which was one of the Venues for the Rugby World Cup.|The hotel is easy enough to find and has ample parking, excellent facilities close by( bars and food). And is only a stones throw from Stade Pierre Mauroy. Which is one of the reasons we selected it. It certainly wasn’t the cost on a match weekend.(they could and did charge premium prices for a budget hostel.)although it price was very competitive. |Right down to the nitty gritty, £397 for two of us, on a two night stay, some may say you get what you pay for, we certainly didn’t, rather pricy for what can only be described as a backpackers hostel. (Not as competitive as first thought) The room itself, stank of an ashtray, I’m sure the laws/rules are different in France about smoking in your room, but it didn’t appear as if any effort had been made to air the room, it’s a good job it was a warm weekend, where we could leave the door open, which helped a bit we think, or we just became used to the smell. The room I guess measured 16-18 foot by 8 foot max, this included the private shower/toilet room, in one of the rear corners, 4.5 foot by 4.5 foot, not enough to swing a towel around your back let alone a cat around your head! The room itself is well appointed with a double bed and a single above, OK if you are 12 or younger, not really impressed as an adult, with minimal space to climb the ladder to the bed. No tea or coffee’s, and no kettle, which in itself, made you look forward to breakfast, silly mistake, should’ve known by now!|Right on to breakfast, various breads, yoghurts, spreads, some kind of chocolate coated cereal, orange juice, tea option and machine coffee. Doesn’t sound too bad, right? Unfortunately there was no cheese, not one, let alone a selection no cold meats, no boiled eggs and no fresh fruit, some of the various breads I’ve mentioned before is sliced bread for toasting, in the appointed above it’s capability 2 slice toaster, and on the second morning, the laundry ( whether it was clean or dirty, I just don’t know )was occupying one of the already in short supply tables, that’s right, in the dining area.|Various other faults exist within this hotel, e.g. external lighting hanging off wall, supported by its cable only, burn mars on room furniture, holes and stains on and in linen, broken stair hand rails, a night contact number that doesn’t work (so look after your key cards, they are easily corrupted) and if you do get locked out of your room, don’t expect to use the loo in reception without a physical key. It’s locked out of hours!|However, I would like to highlight a positive, the hotel had excellent water pressure!!! I wouldn’t be surprised if this is more luck than judgement.|I can’t really comment on the staff as my interaction with them was minimal, but they all seemed pleasant, probably expected to work long hours and seriously underpaid.|Why didn’t complain I hear you say, we had enough trouble in booking this place during a World Cup weekend in the first instance, and we weighed it up the odds and to book another room elsewhere at such short notice would’ve put it in the premium premium bracket so that wasn’t really an option, in all honesty, would I go back to this hotel? Answer, Yes, as a demolition worker, and as a guest, No, not a chance, I’m not telling you to avoid, but...
Read moreThe room smelt like cigarettes on arrival. Immediately informed reception who gave us the option to move, after to taking a look at a second room that smelt just as bad and the quality looked worse, we chose to stick with the worst room that was already below standards but the better of a worse situation. If you are looking for sleep this isn’t the spot, 2 lowsy pillows for the bed and dirty unclean feeling red cigarette burned sheet for the bed, not to mention “happy jacks” the nightclub next door that’s open through the week well into the night until around 5am so loud and horrendous. No air conditioning and not the option of opening the window as didn’t feel safe and was too loud outside. The shower room was that of a prison. Found myself slipping into the middle of the bed in the night, checked under the bed and the base was completely broken. Also told reception on departure, staff friendly but unhelpful and very aware of the run down franchise they run. Only highlight was the location which wasn’t far from central Lille which we were using for Olympic Games. Wouldn’t recommend staying, many worthy airbnbs etc for...
Read moreArrived tired from a night of driving at 4am. The machine for check in tried up selling me for bkfast when it was included in my booking. I had entered my booking number before the upsell. Room Stinking of smocking but like not just a little!! Took me 40m’ to fall asleep because of it after opening the door and windows for the longest time possible. Overall cleanliness was acceptable to the best with stained bedshits that did not smell of smocking and let me think they were indeed clean. Bkfast was as expected for the price. Clerk lady on the morning couldn’t care less at me complaining after dropping my key. Telling me that I could have called for the on call person to switch room. Well she could have at least apologised and acknowledge my complaints. Instead of switching the blame to me. NO I would not have wasted 30mn or more to switch to another stinking room when I was tired and had to wake up at 8. Would not recommend and will never stay there again. I’ll pay a bit extra and book the Kyriad if I was you. Like i did a previous time when I was spending more than a few...
