I have just returned home after spending 5 very relaxing nights and some rather active days at this wonderful guest house. |The setting itself is very scenic and is something of a calm oasis amid the hills and vineyards of this stunning part of France. |The accommodation is outstanding. A old building which has been very tastefully renovated inside to the highest and most tasteful standard. The rooms are ample in size and the beds very comfortable. The bathrooms are modern and everything is extremely clean. |Breakfast consists of pastries collected fresh from the bakery, alongside tea, coffee, cereal, fruit (including on my visit, some lovely home grown figs) yoghurt, ham and cheeses. |If you wish to eat here in the evening, you need to pre book this at the time you book the accommodation. There is a wonderful little auberge (inn/restaurant) in the village - easily within walking distance - but be aware this may not be open and is set to close for winter. |In addition to the walking and lake swimming available in the area, the grounds of the guest house itself provide a great opportunity to relax, enjoy the sun, read a book or sit in the hot/cool tub. |Your hosts are knowledge about the area and between them speak English, French and German. |A wonderful 5 star experience and I am now missing this place where Adam and Phill are so lucky to...
Read moreA tranquil oasis of Calm set amongst the French countryside. Phill and Adam have created a special place which, whilst located in a home nearly 300 years old, is thoroughly modern and to the highest standards. The day starts with a wonderful choice of breakfasts, fruit, pastries, cereals or even scrambled eggs! You then can either stay around the lovely gardens and listen to the bees and birds or explore the local countryside including, as we did, le chateau de Rennes as well as Carcassonne old town and castle. Then it’s back to the guest house for a beautiful meal prepared either by Phil and Adam, at an extra cost and arranged when you book, or to one of the local restaurants. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options are available at both locations. |Nothing was ever too much for the hosts and the rooms were spotless with the option of fresh towels everyday and the beds were amazing! I haven’t slept so well in years!! When we left we felt like we had known Phill and Adam for years and their cat, Mr Tibbs, was my sons best friend. |If you thinking of a stop over, mini break or even a longer couple of weeks holiday I cannot think of a better location, plus I think understand they are open the majority of the year, which most local...
Read moreWe had an absolutely wonderful time staying here. This place offers the best of both worlds: a gorgeous old building behind vineyards, with newly furnished rooms that have all the mod-cons, beautifully fitted bathrooms and a better 4G signal than I get at home in London. The breakfast was sensational with fresh bread and pastries from the local boulangerie (of course), granola, fresh fruit and really good coffee. It’s a real ‘off-the-beaten’ track gem in one of the most unpretentious parts of France I’ve been to: it’s a short walk along well-tended fields into Rouvenac for drinks or dinner on the village square at the local ‘auberge’. Phil and Adam are wonderful hosts who couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome and comfortable during our stay. I was only sorry we couldn’t...
