We booked one night here before catching the ferry back home at the end of our holiday. It is about an hour's drive from Le Havre. We had no trouble finding it, despite the lack of signage (only their name was on the small board outside on the gate and it was one country entrance among many on a little lane) but the tower could be seen from the entrance, which made it easy in the daylight so long as you go slowly! Communication with the owners was great (it helped that we speak french) even though they had very little English, even sending us an email with directions. There is plenty of parking on the gravel drive and the landscaped gardens are a delight. All I wanted was to sit on our little patio and listen to the birds! We had booked the suite upstairs in the tower which involved climbing a very steep set of chunky wooden steps which were also quite narrow so not ideal for those with mobility problems or little children. Also a bit of a struggle with big cases, but totally worth it when you get inside. The roof inside the turret goes straight up to the point with all the beams and little arched windows half way up. Stunning, charming and so bright. The picture windows overlook the lovely gardens and there were blinds and curtains over these but we could not cover the little roof windows so if you are sensitive to light please bear this in mind! The bed was super comfy and trimmed with faux fur throws and plenty of cushions. The white lawn sheets were embroidered too, so tasteful, The quilt we think was down and we spent a very comfy night. The annex part of the room, where you come in, is like another room down three steps, divided off by a curtain if required, where there are 2 large bunks with memory foam mattresses and a tiny kitchen. There was a coffee maker, microwave and fridge. They had provided milk, and pots of local conserves in the fridge. On the tray were jars with sugar, drinking chocolate, coffee and various teas as well as local honey. The tower room contained a table and chairs for breakfast, looking out over the gardens, as well as a TV and giant wardrobe. We felt like royalty. Everything was newly refurbished and clean, with laminate floors. The bathroom was a pleasant surprise in red and black with fluffy black towels and a massive shower head that felt like a waterfall, very designer. ||When the sun went down we could hear frogs calling in the garden, along with cicadas and crickets, it felt really tropical and it was only the last day of May. ||The downstairs rooms would be lovely too, with large picture windows and loads of room in the garden for the children to run around.|| I asked when booking if we could have something gluten free for our daughter and although we had a no initially, when we arrived they had gone out of their way to find rice cakes and did a lovely bowl of local yoghurt with strawberries for breakfast for her. The hostess left the breakfast tray outside the door on the stairs until we wanted it, so it was definitely a no-hassle stop. We had fresh local bread and croissants with a fruit salad which was delightful. We did venture out to Cabourg in the evening when we needed a meal, which is only down the road, and were totally wowed by that too. We definitely plan to go back again and get a better look. What a wonderful way to finish our holiday, Highly...
