We stayed with Homair in La Vallee for 10 nights in August as a family of 4. We stayed in the premier exclusive cabins. The Cabins are modern and clean with Nespresso coffee machine, gas barbecue, dish washer and air conditioning. Its important to note that the cabins don’t have any oven. Cabins are not spacious at all inside but they have a nice seating area outside. ||We had issues relating to an electrical fault in our cabin. Cabin 138. This was not rectified in a timely manner and resulted in 4 trips to reception. We eventually had to repack and move cabins at 10pm at night. (Cabin 286). We had a leak under our sink which was sorted very fast. We also had a issue with the dishwasher and we couldn’t use it for our stay. Due to some bad weather a few days, we had hoped to be able to connect Netflix to the tv. It wouldn’t work and despite two trips to reception it wasn’t fixed. ||Damien looked after us during the issues with the electrical failure in cabin 138 and I can honestly say he is a credit to la Vallee. So apologetic for the inconvenience and very helpful. ||Location is very good. Less than two hours from Cherbourg port. Close to the beautiful towns of Houlgate and Deauville and a lot of historic sites such as Pegasus bridge and the Airborne Museum in Sainte mere Eglise which is well worth seeing. ||Supermarket is only 10 minutes drive with a larger one in carbourg if required. Shop on site is very average and closes for most of the mid day. If you would like pastries and bread you will need to order the day before. ||The biggest issue with the campsite seems to be space. It looks like they have added a lot of new static cabins, which are crammed in together with very little space between. Our first cabin looked totally out of place and was missing a step outside at the entrance which make if very difficult to unpack! ||The pool area was outrageously over crowded. This is not our first time in France, but it is definitely the most overcrowded I’ve ever seen in any campsite. The area is way to small for the volume of people on the site. We didn’t have a sun bed for any of our trips to the pool. Be aware if you have children frequenting the water slides. We ended up with some nasty grazes from one of the slides. They were not supervised either apart from one day that was exceptionally busy. ||Kids play area near reception is very old with a bouncy castle and ping pong tables. The playground is good for smaller kids and the playground near the restaurant is lovely. Tennis Courts have to be booked at reception ||Restaurant is overpriced and basic. The pizzas were ok but expensive. Drinks are also very expensive.||We definitely wouldn’t return to this campsite again. It is very overpriced and not 5...
Read moreThis questionnaire should be bilingual. I can make out the understanding of most of the questions, but not all of them. I do not want to spend more time to use a translator to find out the meaning of the other questions, so I will skip them.
One of the answers gives you the option to rate on a scale using for example 3.8. I think this may be a french way of rating, but for me it doesn't make sense.
We enjoyed our stay and were happy with the service at reception, and the mobile home, and also the pre-arrival information. However, I would like to highlight the following:
500 EUR deposit is a lot. What about 300 EUR? Having to clean the mobile home to such an extend that you also have to clean the windows is pretty cheeky. It's a clever business strategy of you, but it is not fair on the client. Do you really expect us to pack a window-cleaning liquid and a cloth on our holiday? Further, everyone has a different standing of "Clean". For example, we left the mobile home much cleaner than it was when we arrived. Is that fair? No. I also think it is necessary that there is a deep clean done after each visit, especially in times of Corona. I watched the cleaning team cleaning one of the other mobile homes. While I am sure the teams are very efficient they were also incredibly swift. There is no way that meant a deep-clean.
Charging for a baby high chair AND a baby cot is quite unbelievable. This is not child friendly and means a financial burden for families with small children. On other camp grounds, you pay once for a baby "kit" and you get those two, plus a baby bath for just one price.
Especially as the shower was either super hot or cold having a baby bath would have been quite beneficial.
The Wifi was not good enough to charge for it. Either offer it for free, or make sure it's at a super speed. There should be at least one free-of-charge wifi spot on the camp ground, for example at reception. That is standard...
Read moreThis is the worst campsite I have ever been to! Don't go there! They charged me 39Euros for just me, in a small tent, hardly taking any room. After cycling I was too tired to find another camp, so it being advertised as 5 star I thought it would be good. They gave me a fob for the shower (you have to give £10 deposit), and this just gives you 10minutes per day. Anyway the fob didn't work so I had to wash in the sink. I thought the fob would work in the morning, because the guy in reception said it resets after midnight. Guess what? the fob didn't work the next day. I went to reception and told them I couldn't have a shower, and I asked for a refund. They didn't want to know in reception and said I couldn't have a refund, and I should have reported it to them the previous day. Well I'm hardly going to trek from the shower block to reception about 500 yards naked! and I was too tired from cycling about 60k. I just thought the fob would work in the morning.
Besides the shower fob disaster, they are too mean to provide toilet paper in the loos. This is not a five star site, the bar was shody, there was a fight between some staff (waiters). It was noisy with screaming kids, and reception staff didn't care that I couldn't have a shower. I told them I was going to give a bad review, and they didn't care. I asked one receptionist her name (Audrey) who was just as stubborn and inflexible as the rest. I said I would send an email to the director and make a complaint. I did this, but have not had a reply. Anyway Audrey started getting angry and started shouting at me after I had taken her name, and said I was going to make a complaint.
So as I say don't go to this campsite if you can help it. It sucks...
PS dont wear the identity strap they give you on your wrist. I had a rash break out on my skin!! they probably have put some irritant on the band, it wouldn't...
