Nice and big castle. We had a spacious room. A large heated pool, one side of which is also significantly deeper than usual. The pool has a nice view of the castle and nature. There was a self-service refrigerator with soft drinks by the pool (for a fee). The house had a spacious lounge with a piano and billiards. In the corridor there is a large display with hunting trophies. The house and interior could use some updating in several places, but overall the condition is still OK. Amboise city centre with its many attractions is a 10-minute drive away. There are several castles in the immediate vicinity that are worth visiting. Since all the customer service in the hotel was done by one person, he was busy with his activities and he didn't want to help with booking table in a restaurant, but we got a prepared leaflet from him with information on recommended restaurants in the area. However, the information was in French and it turned out that most of the restaurants were closed that day and in several places the understanding of English over the phone was poor. With the help of the administrator, at least those places that were closed on that day could have been excluded from this list, or the information would have been printed in English. There is no refrigerator or minibar in the room.

Sometimes you could hear what was going on in the next room too well, especially everything that was happening in the bathroom (even just splashing water).

The sun loungers are already starting to fall apart and the board around the pool is quite old - it springs and rattles under the foot of a heavier person.

Two different navigation programs do not know the location of this place, only Google Map found it, so do the preliminary work with the exact location of the hotel in advance, so as not to worry unnecessarily on the road (where there may be no internet). When you turn off the main road, there is a sign with a sign for the hotel, but for some reason you don't notice it well.

The mobile internet was very weak there, the hotel's own Wi-Fi was OK in the house, but there was no coverage by the pool.

There is no catering apart from breakfast. Breakfast is baguette, croissant, fruit, unflavoured yogurt and jam. The coffee is served in a press pot, which is of course much better than instant coffee, but it is still short of proper machine coffee, and for those who are used to drinking cappuccino in the morning, its absence is disappointing. Apparently, according to the French standard, the choice of breakfast is OK, but in the north we are brought up with the knowledge that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and we don't eat sweets for breakfast.

The pool opens (the cover on the pool is opened) in the morning at 11:40 (although, for example, the opening time is marked 08:00 on the Booking page) and check-out is no later than 11:30, that is, if you planned to use the pool in the morning before the cultural program or before check-out, it will not be possible. It was a big disadvantage for us, because one of the most important criteria for us when choosing a hotel was the possibility to swim in the morning in the pool. The administrator explained that he is too busy in the morning to organize breakfast and with check out, and he does not have time to open the pool...

As you turn off the main road, onto the gravely path with overhanging trees, and you see a grand chateau looming in the distance you're instantly transported back in time. Whether its Downton Abbey, Serpent Queen, a murder mystery film noir, a spooky supernatural or horror flick, or roaring 20s soiree, this place has all the right vibes. Every night we were imaging what we were pretending to be. ||From the moment you pull up you'll realize this is an experience. Behind the chateau is a scene out of a book or a painting. An expansive elevated yard, a babbling stream you can hear at night, a stone bridge crossing the stream, and on the other side are wide, expansive meadows with a few horses milling about. The property is huge, well kept, quiet, and ever so peaceful.||The common areas are quite interesting. Like a scene out of the 1980s movie Clue, it's amazing what kind of vibes you can generate at this place. The spooky hallway mounted with taxidermy animal heads, the creaky floorboards, and the quietness at night really completes the scene. Breakfast is served in the morning but you need to let the owner know the night before because it is specific for each room.||The front desk area is not always staffed but there is a phone to call the owner(s) who I believe live on-site. Laurent and Amayric or Aymeric (sp?) are wonderful and always greeted us warmly. ||We had the Quentin & Aymeric Suite on the top floor. This room was HUGE. Exposed beams, an expansive space, large windows overlooking the yard and meadows beyond the stream, a nice tub in the center of the room (low water pressure though), plenty of storage room, separate sitting area, a small bathroom, and back bedroom with two small twin beds for children. An adult could sleep there but it's really intended for children. If you're wanting to splurge, get this room and be the Lord of the Manor!||Hotel location requires you to have a car as it is NOT in a town and you cannot walk to anything nearby. Amboise is less than 10 minutes by car and easy to get to. ||Stay here for the experience, the vibes, and make it fun. One night in particular was quite foggy and eerily quiet so when we were outside we pretended there were ghosts and werewolves in the meadows and we were running to get back to our room. You can have so...

This hotel is definitely 5 stars all the way and I highly recommend it! You get to stay in an authentic French country manor! We stayed in the Donatien room, which is the attic room. It was huge with a large, comfortable bed, gable window, wood beamed and vaulted ceiling, and walk in closet. The wood ceiling and stone walls make for a beautifully rustic room. The view from the window looked down on a pond and a group of horses beyond. Every morning we loved seeing the horses and saying good morning from afar. There are wooden steps to get up to the room, but that was part of its charm. Be careful when carrying your bags up/down. The hotel operator, Laurent, was very kind and very helpful. Anything we needed, he was there. He checked us in, escorted us to our room, and gave us a tour. Much appreciated! A highlight at the chateau is the salon on the first floor. It is a beautifully decorated parlor and game room, with a feel from the past. We spent several hours in there, playing cards, drinking wine, and eating charcuterie. The down time was great after a day of sightseeing. I only knocked off a star for location because of the distance to town (which is too far to walk) and the difficult driveway. A huge tip: No turning left into the driveway from the road AND no turning left out of the driveway! Right turns only! There are traffic circles in both directions and you must use them. We came in from the north (from Paris) and continued past the driveway to the next traffic circle. There, we turned around to enter the driveway with a safe and legal right hand turn. We got used to it quickly and had no issue (and no traffic tickets or accidents).

A very disappointing experience. We love staying in châteaux, and on our Loire cycling trip we deliberately chose hotels in the higher price range to be sure of good quality amd comfort after long day on bici. Here, however, for the price of a proper hotel we got, at best, a very average B&B. The château and the grounds themselves are, of course, beautiful. But there is one big problem: at this price, the place simply doesn’t belong in its category and does not meet the standards that guests choosing this level expect. I had to shower behind a curtain on the floor in a bathroom that looked like a hospital. The furniture is not vintage or antique, just old and stained. The carpet hasn’t been cleaned in years. the bedding looked like something from a grandmother’s house - but my own grandmother would have been ashamed to offer such faded, overused sheets to her guests. Breakfast was another disappointment: a continental option for an extra €16 that I would frankly describe as an insulin coma. One really needs to think about the guests, who after such a breakfast still need to function until lunch. At the very least, eggs should be included as a minimum standard! The château is lovely, the location is perfect, but along the Loire there are dozens of wonderful châteaux in the same price range where we stayed and had truly outstanding experiences. That’s why I strongly recommend choosing elsewhere and not staying here. As for the management, I recommend they look at their competitors and learn what needs to be improved - or else accept that they belong in a different category, as a simple Bed & Breakfast under €150.

A very disppointing experience. The front desk manager was explaining where to sign up for breakfast and when i asked him to clarify he became very condesending and sarcasric and then said to me "are you blonde"? Then he asked me if i wanted to hear a good blonde joke. I thought this was so unprofessional and rude. The front desk manger also serves breakfast and we saw him taking care of the pool. As a matter of fact he was the only person we saw on the grounds. He was rarely at the front desk and there was a phone number we were to dial if we needed him. I called him for an iron he directed us to look where the washing machine was we looked everywhere to no avail and called him back he said he is not sure where it was. We asked him the next day he still didnt know. The grounds are nice with big beautiful trees and some horses. The inside lobby initially seems nice but once you are upstairs there seem to be some infrastructure problems. A severly slanting corridor floor. Stained carpets, bed covers and chair cushions. Cracked and loose tiles that were not even attached to the floor. The AC does not work well and we were told the WIFI was slow but was really nonexistant. We stayed for 3 nights and our bill was about 1000 euros. Not worth the price for what you get. Not to mention absolutly no pool service. Its really a help yourself service. Do your self a favor and stay in Tours or Amboise you can get a tour from either. We really loved Amboise. Dont waist your money on this poorly run Chateau in need of better service and repair.
