We have made the trip to Country Kids from Canada 4 times over the past decade and despite the fact that our kids are getting older, every year we feel like we could (once again) make “one last trip”. ||The first time we went we had an infant and a three year old and last summer we took our kids who are now 11 and 8. Each year we visited was its own unique experience, but one constant was the dedication of the owners, Sylvain and Laure. Their enthusiasm and commitment to guests means you have a perfectly planned week with nothing left to worry about. We treasure getting to see the two of them and their lovely daughters every time we visit.||The feeling we get at Country Kids is different from any other resort or place we’ve visited. It is a small, secure location with only 7 possible apartments to book. The small, intimate nature means you really can relax and enjoy the amenities without worrying about anything. From the moment you arrive and your bags are whisked away into your apartment and you are greeted with a drink of choice (with the secure gates closed behind you), it really feels like everything is taken care of. | |The first two times we went, we enjoyed the off-season a la carte version and thought it was great. It was a lovely mix of meals together and meals in our own apartment. The activities and kids club were great for our small children and we didn’t ever have to worry.| |More recently, we have travelled in the summer and have booked the complete package and they are correct when they say that absolutely everything is included. One highlight for me is the personal schedule that is completed by Laure on the first or second day. She will sit down with you and figure out the exact right balance of on and off site activities for your family. Later that day, every family will receive a schedule for the week based on their requests. They also provide a meal plan for the week so you can see exactly what the kids will be eating for lunch and dinner each day; as well as the parent dinners. (The parent lunches are ordered daily off of a menu and I have always found more options that I want to try than days I have to eat them!) The meal plan was such a help for our picky eater who could then look forward to the things he likes and we could make a plan for other options if there was a meal that didn’t suit him. Our other child was always able to enjoy the meals provided-there is a lot of thought given to the menu and they are definitely child-friendly meals!| |Another highlight for us are the babysitting nights-particularly when our children were very young. We don’t often get an opportunity on a holiday to go out for a child-free meal. The 3 hours of included babysitting time provided in the apartment allowed for a very stress free evening to enjoy a lovely local restaurant without having to worry about kids menus or bedtimes. | |Our children have really loved meeting other kids their age from around the world when we have stayed there. When they were younger, it was great to see them become fast friends with other little ones and more recently with kids they continue to stay in touch with.| |It has also been a great experience for us to meet and get to know other adults in a very relaxed setting. Before our very first trip I remember having some anxiety about the small-scale atmosphere, but I have enjoyed each and every week we have spent there over the years. That intimate nature has meant that I have met amazing people. I have enjoyed many memorable evenings over those years, staying up late (with baby monitors in the early years) in the central “bar” enjoying great conversation and drinks. | |I’m not sure any review can capture the really special feeling you get at Country Kids, but it’s hard to imagine any other place that could contribute to so many of the wonderful memories we have...
