An absolute must if you are visiting France, the Burgandy region or even Paris! We stayed at Chateau Pierreclos while visiting France and I couldn't have thought of a better way to end our trip. It was the highlight of our whole time here! If the Chateau and grounds aren't already beautiful enough, then add in the the amazing staff and owner and you're in an amazing French country side dream!
We had an amazing 2 night stay at the chateau in the count suite, which I would highly recommend you book although any accommodations here looked beautiful. From the second we were greeted by the staff, Léa and Léonnie, and they were nothing but kind and helpful.
We took The Great Wine Tasting tour and it was amazing. Our guide Louisiane was so much fun and informative. She taught us so much about the Burgandy region and the Chateau's wines - which were all delicious and so were the pairings. We also played a really fun game and toured the grounds - Louisiane took her time with us and made it feel like we were hanging out with a friend.
Breakfast is the one meal they do serve (as it is a bed and breakfast) and it is incredible. The owner Anne serves and the spread is unbelievable. The soft boil egg was one of the best I've ever had! Anne would come and talk with us and was so kind with her time! Even when just myself and my friend were the only two people attending breakfast, Anne still put out this entire spread for us.
When we weren't roaming the grounds or wine tasting, we hung out by pool all day with a fantastic bottle of wine from the wine shop. The grounds are just unbelievably peaceful and quiet. It's truly one of the most beautiful places I've ever visited.
It's a very easy journey directly from Paris to the city of Macon and a short taxi ride from there. The staff was very helpful in giving us the information needed to book a taxi and each taxi was prompt and on time for us. As some reviews mentioned, this is only a bed and breakfast, so you need to take care of other meals on your own. You can walk to a small market from the chateau - it has a wonderful selection of food like some meats and cheeses as well as fruits, crackers etc. If you're from out of the country like my friend and I, I'd suggest food shopping a little maybe before your journey there so you have snacks. Either way, it was very manageable to get whatever we needed.
As mentioned, our stay was just an absolute dream and we can not wait...
Read moreDuring my river cruise, we stopped at the wine house Château de Pierrecios for a tour and tasting. I was impressed by the knowledge of our wine steward who shared both the history of this winery but also detailed tasting notes about the wines. We tasted several whites, reds, and a peach liqueur. I fell in love with their wines. So, I didn't hesitate to purchase their wines to be shipped back to the States. The Saint-Véran and the Pouilly Fuissé were amazing, especially the Pouilly Fuissé which was had very good body and character. I think this wine would go well with even certain meats, like pork. In addition, I also got their Bourgogne Pinot Noir. This is a smooth and enjoyable wine with some good personality. It's definitely not a weak Pinot. Finally, the Créme de Pêche (a peach liqueur) is lovely. One can have it alone, after dinner, or blend it with fresh berries as a desert. The people that helped me with my order were professional and friendly. And once I was back in the States, I corresponded with Léonnie Dogliani any time I had a question about my purchase and shipment. She was always prompt to respond. Great customer service! I would highly recommend this wine house...
Read moreWe had an external wine tasting scheduled but could not make it in time. When I called the staff at the Castle, they said they had a tasting scheduled right when we were planning to arrive for our stay. It was a great tasting and the wines superb. My only comment is the sales "pitch" on the first part of the tour. We loved the history of the castle and how it came to be in the family who owns it now. We did not really need to know about how many rooms there are and how many people it can accommodate. The room itself is opulent and spectacular. We stayed in the Suite of Counts and it was beyond our expectations. Be aware, dinner around the area is sparse Monday-Wednesday as most restaurants are closed during this time. We were fortunate to find a small family owned pizza place in a village down the road. Otherwise, you will have to drive to Macron for food. A great place for a multi-night stay, which is what we...
