Camping Country Park - Crécy la Chapelle Crécy-La-Chapelle||||⛔️ WARNING - HONEST REVIEW ⛔️||Apologies in advance it is really long but if you don’t have the time/ patience to read just simply look at the videos / pictures that is enough. Unfortunately on trip advisor I can’t upload the abusive videos but if you add FRENCH CAMPING on Facebook you will see. ||||This is our third annual trip to France, usually we camp but this time we decided to use a lodge for ease. We booked last minute due to my husbands work in the Army. ||Family of 4, theee children under 7- one autistic / adhd which means everything has to be explained for his anxiety/ stress/ behaviours if routines change. There were very few options with availability and now we understand why. I’ll just bullet point pros and cons with added videos and pictures to see for your self: ||||Pros: ||- [ ] Close to Disney.||- [ ] Two small cleanish pools (one was closed for some duration due to floods- we had to travel 50 minute round trip using our fuel etc to use their other site)||- [ ] Bouncy castles (however wet and dirty) ||||Cons:||- [ ] No WiFi first day (huge stress for my son who uses his tablet to regulate, told there was previously a flood but it will be fixed tomorrow, should’ve noticed the red flags then) ||- [ ] 4 am - neighbour wakes my husband to tell him to move his car which was already swimming in water - (when he opened the door the water came in, it was that deep)||- [ ] 6 am my son is pacing round the lodge stressed that we were literally inside a caravan completely flooded outside no staff in sight. Around 8ish we were told to pack our whole caravan to emergency evacuate through a window and we were being moved to their sister camp 25 minutes away. They used golf buggy’s doing multiple trips to drop our stuff at reception, then we had to get ourselves out on the buggy’s to get to reception. ||- [ ] My husband re packed the whole car, roof bag included, ready to move to another campsite. Prepped my son for the change, which caused us issues with his behaviour due to change of routine but we were ready to go. ||- [ ] Went to reception, queue of people getting refunds and leaving, the manager, by far the most condescending person I have ever met In my life, her English is fluent speaking and understanding, she remained calm and she was condescending majority of the time but slipped up on occasions where by she was rude and snapped. We discussed what was happening, she whispered to not tell anyone but they have found us another lodge. Of course we complained due to the flood, no WiFi, no electric due to the flood. We requested a two day refund for the days we were affected, she told us she was very stressed and to come back later. My husband arrived back later she offered 1 day refund after saying this was not good enough they reluctantly offered 2 days credit to come back. He came back and liaised with me and we agreed we will return next year with my husbands daughter physically disabled with complex needs- even though no accessible lodges but we’d make it work. I went back to speak to her, she was unavailable for the day, went to toilet and saw her in the reception on the way back and started to discuss it. She said “well you have until Thursday we will sort it then I am busy”- I felt it could have been sorted then but she said she was busy and so we respected that and waited until check out. - (the family after us was given then same solution to be moved) - even though they claimed they only had one “special caravan for us as our son is autistic 🤦🏽♀️”||- [ ] We were taken to another lodge, the managers mother - very lovely, approachable & helpful lady, sent for cleaners as the previous people who rented had not cleaned. Three people arrived, we unpacked our stuff on to the balcony, they gave it the quickest wipe over which I witnessed, and the managers mother took the broom off the cleaner and gave it to me and said don’t worry she can do it. So I was left to basically clean the caravan as well as sweep and mop. The mess was not just a buildup of the previous people but also poor cleaning build up- see photos. I wish I took more but what was there was disgusting enough. I thoroughly cleaned as we had a crawling baby and it was unhygienic. ||- [ ] WiFi still intermittent but we had already had to buy a go roam pass on our phones so that we had instant access at our expense of course. ||- [ ] Reception times unreliable, often on breaks and closes early 19.00 with a 2 hour break for lunch in the day. ||- [ ] Food van only open for a few hours of an evening and the food options are very minimal, small portions too. || - [ ] The lodge LOOKS modern but not built well, much like new builds in the UK. 😬 mattresses were uncomfortable, solid, no kettle , no oven, high breakfast bar seats without backs which weren’t appropriate for the kids to sit on. They could use the outside seating area but got bit loads in the process. All small issues but after the dramas at the beginning and how condescending the manager was we just got on with the next few days making it work, plus she had already demanded we came back Thursday to discuss. || - [ ] Thursday arrives- deep cleaning the caravan as we would do in any place we stay and packing up the car up almost ready to leave, my husband - with the baby in his arms noticed I’d left a pack of baby wipes in this “wardrobe” type modern set up they had which we hadn’t really used due to it not being very functional. As he slid the heavy door across it fell off, smashed him in the head luckily missing the baby and clean knocked off a piece of plywood acting as a bedside table attached to the wall, my husband was dizzy, immediately marked with swelling and obviously had a head ache. This happened around 10, just before we were leaving. I found a cleaner and asked her to call the manager or her mother to our caravan to report what happened, we waited half an hour and no one came. I did not want to leave him alone with the children as he was still feeling dizzy, I found another cleaner walking past and I asked her to send for the manager. We waited again. No one came. I walked down there in the end with the baby who was screaming and the kids going mad from sitting on the balcony for nearly two hours at this point. I got there just before they were going to leave, the manager immediately pointed out we were two hours past check out, suggesting we had to pay for the two hours late check out!! I had explained that we were and still are waiting for a manager to come and see what had happened. She refused to come, told me they were closing for lunch!!! She started shouting at me fine you need an ambulance, I said I do not need an ambulance do not call one it’s not an emergency she insisted you claim your husband is injured you get an ambulance and pay on your insurance. I said, I just simply want a manager to come to our lodge and see what had happened and explain the danger of it. She started accusing us of making problems from day one (baring in mind everything was beyond our control and simply their mistakes for example putting us In a caravan that flooded days before we arrived) the staff were laughing and speaking between themselves about me/ the situation which I asked if they could speak in English in my presence. They laughed and said why do you think we will talk about you and laughed. They refused to come to the lodge and refund me the money they had agreed. I told them I did not want the two day stay they offered but a two day refund (although I feel after the issues stated plus more I don’t have the capacity to write, a full refund should have been offered). The manager kept referring back to this “gentlemen” who was lurking around with a stern look - and even though I had asked her who the owner was on many occasions, his body language as he stayed a mute was getting more and more agitated. He then shouted he was the proprietor. We tried to speak to him using a translator, because apparently he could not speak English- he refused to communicate. Just shook his head when we asked for two days and our deposit screamed to speak to the manager- but couldn’t speak English? || - [ ] The kids are stressed I’m stood in the heat, nearly an hour on asking for them to come and see what happened or come to a solution, breastfeeding my baby stood up and the woman starts shouting she will call the police, the owner then snatched the keys stormed past my husband making contact, my husband said he would go with him, to which he shouted NO. Moments later he returned screaming at us we broke his brand new caravan, we did this on purpose, it is brand new caravan, it is impossible for this to happen, his son even stood in front of him to try and stop him approaching us in anger- I tried explaining to the manager the door was only attached by one hinge, the screws were too small even if it had 4 hinges for weight of the door. Again, she was being condescending and I suggested it needed reporting to O’hara the people who built it incase of it hurting other people, as missing my baby was a close call. She shouted at me “don’t tell me what to do” stormed off and shut herself in the office. I will attach a video of the owner screaming at us, accusing us of breaking it on purpose ? I mean why would we?! The team discussed in French between them and came to the deduction that we were problem customers and in their exact words “find it weird that we told them all this on the last day. - I refer back to the managers previous request that we must discuss on day of departure.|| - [ ] Police still not arrived at this point I’m in tears, really upset and stressed because my son is adamant the police are coming to mrder us - part of his autism , and he knows police carry guns and he’s pacing, stressed, I’m crying the baby is screaming. Really awful, stressful hostile situation to be in. Owner still livid insisting we broke the lodge on purpose. A different receptionist said what is the solution. I said the two day refunded already agreed and our deposit back. The owner screamed no deposit back no refund. || - [ ] I called the police myself, they came. One of them more approachable than the other, they spoke to both of us, we were already missing our ferry at this point, my sons stress exasperated massively at this point because the police with their gns. || - [ ] The resolution- initially suggested no refund they said they will release the deposit ( did not trust them to do so) they will keep our deposit so they refunded two days they owed us nothing to do with the door that FELL on my husband) & they will keep the deposit. So all the stress , abuse, floods, and everything our family endured during what was supposed to be a relaxing holiday, after we work so hard between us, we have two disabled children, this really was supposed to be a nice relaxing break that turned into hell. The police were present, I was so distressed and our whole family waiting for over 3 hours at this point just admitted defeat and will try and get help from the bank regarding the deposit for their fault. ||||Im sure many have had lovely holidays here and many may continue to, but this was our experience and it’s ruined our whole time away. We had no power, she barely gave me opportunity to talk, they were rude, condescending, abusive , shouting, the customer service was literally appalling. I would really honestly not recommend anyone to stay here. But of course at your own discretion, it seems they look for reasons to keep deposits where possible even if the client is...
Read moreWe booked to stay here as was advertised as an ideal location for Disney, and it was. We had a day planned in Disney Land Paris and we could get there by bus in around 20minutes, although the advertised cost had been doubled due to the Olympics (nothing the site could do about that). The trip to central Pris however is a bit longer than advertised, but it can be done if planning a day trip there. The camping pitches were ok, the ground a little uneven where we needed to park to fit our large motorhome and not the best ground for sleeping in a tent but it was ok and we could set up next to the other family we were travelling with. Due to the proximity to the hedges and the river there were literally swarms of mosquitos, so bug spray and citronella is a must. The pool was ok, the kids enjoyed it, and it was visibly cleaned each night. We didn't use the other facilities or inflatables so I can't comment on those. |The toilet and shower facilities on the other hand were absolutely HORRENDOUS! - by far the worst we have ever had the misfortune to use at a campsite. We have seen some poor showers but this was another level. Where do I start? They were filthy, they didn't work properly, the showers were scalding hot with no temperature control, the toilet flush was insufficient to remove larger deposits....|As you can see from the photos the showers were disgusting and these were taken 30minutes after they were supposed to have been cleaned in the middle of the day. There was hair in all the drains, rust marks on the shower panels, cobwebs, dirt, holes and no hooks to put your towel or dry clothes on. The floor was so dirty we showered in our flip flops. The shower heads were so bunged up they didn't provide a strong enough stream of water for my daughters to rinse shampoo from their hair and often the water was so hot it was scalding and couldn't be adjusted - not so bad for us but there were young kids there. I did ask at reception one day if the showers were cleaned, to which I got the very blunt and sharp reply that they were done at 8am, 12pm and 3pm but it was very busy at the moment with lots of people and that's why they were dirty. I took these photos at 12:30pm and some of the hair had been there 3 days. The site was also less than 50% occupied in the camping pitches that would use the showers. |I did write to the site when they asked for a review and gave them the opportunity to respond, as yet, 2 weeks later I have had no response. |I don't know if the lodges were any better but I would avoid this site if you are hoping to use the toilets and showers. If you just want a base for...
Read moreWe stayed at this campsite in our campervan between 14th to 18th May 2025. I highly recommend the site for the camping side of things.
I counted a total of 44 'bays' in which each has an electricity supply, and hedges around making a small private area. The camping is in a cornered off area away from the caravan rentals, which I quite liked.
On the day of attending, they called early in the day to ask what time we would arrive, this was reassuring to recieve.
There was plenty of space for our campervan and awning.
The ground is a bit rocky / stony, so bring a groundsheet and rock pegs ideally. The location was perfect for disney, literally a 5 minute walk up to the big church, and a bus takes you into Disney is 3 stops / 15 mins or so. We also went into Paris for a day, by driving over to Esbly, and parking there, then catching a train directly into Paris Est, this also cost €2.50 each. Esbly is about 20 minute drive from the campsite, although you can also get a tram from Crecy la Chapelle to Esbly.
The facilities are perfect for a young family, there are inflatables they can play on etc, and a pool. The pool was freezing!
The campsite facilitioes were great, washing up area was clean, and the toilets and showers were as good as any other campsite I go to.
Issues: There is an issue with the water tap, and we used the tap in the washing up area, because the tap within the campsite was broken.
I found issues in booking the site, the booking process only takes a deposit, and then to pay the rest it was awkward when they send out a link without any logo's or anything for me to make a payment to some website - thankfully for me it all worked out, but it felt like this could have been better. I also then had the staff email me twice a day for about a week demanding my payment before our trip, - despite having already paid, and when this was pointed out to them after about 5 emails, they stopped sending the demands.
The emails you get sent to you are clearly related to the caravan rentals, so all the stuff about deposits are not required for camping (maybe this was obvious, but I wasnt sure until we got there if they would try and...
