The 5th stop for us on the Route St Jacques and our favorite so far. We were asked to leave our boots in the lobby, which we didn't mind. Our room was in the attic and was quirky, with wood and tiled floor. Rooms were named rather than numbered and we stayed in "Narcisses". ||A lovely evening meal, served promptly, and which included local speciality "aligot" - a kind of mix of cheese and potato. Delicious! The room was comfortable and had the added bonus of a bath to soak our weary feet - we have only had shower so far on this route. Read moreHaving changed plans walking on the GR65, we were delighted to find rooms at La Maison de Rosalie after a long day. We received a very warm welcome and the rooms were fine - a good size and comfortable. ||But what a meal! It was absolutely wonderful. A salad of leaves, avocado, figs, apricots and lots of other good things to start, then a delicious puff pastry goat's cheese tart for the veggie and a fine serving of the local pork speciality for the non-veggie, an enormous cheeseboard, perfect red fruit panna cotta - and with a very reasonably priced and drinkable house wine.||Breakfast was really good too.||A true gem of a find - thoroughly...
Read moreOnce you've been in this place, it's hard to forget it. The location is quite unique, somewhere lost in the highlands of the Aubrac, in the middle of a small group of houses, with the wind that blows or the sun that shines on the old building and its two terraces. The house has such a personality, with old charm rooms, that you have the feeling it embraces you. The new owners seem to have choose to adapt to the hundreds of hikers along the chemin de Saint Jacques that passes just in front of the house. At least in spring it is more an (excellent) gite than a hotel. But...
