This place is absolutely magical!✨ Etienne welcomed us at our car to help with our luggage. It was a last minute booking, for our last day in France. We were eating lunch in Dijon and found this place luckily online on google, and journeyed there. Through the Campagne filled with winding roads, sunflowers, Les vaches, and endless views we pulled up to this château in the little village of Mauvilly on the top of the hill, just northwest of Dijon.
Etienne showed us around the chateau. We walked through, each room more beautiful and grand then the next. A hall of old photos and beautifully painted walls, old vintage blue flowered wallpaper, a vintage pool table and parlor, out through the old doors to the veranda to look over the stone wall to the moat and rolling pastureland! We walked around the grounds, filled with Apple and fruit orchards! Plums, figs, peaches and apples. He showed us the old chapel and the old command post where the Germans had occupied it. Long old stone hallways, lookout points for protection. Later it was turned into hospital. So much history behind these walls. Etienne served us a lovely coursed meal for dinner! And before hand we enjoyed an aperitif outside on the patio.
We definitely felt so cared for by Etienne and his wife. It was truly an amazing experience and the best of the Bourgogne Countryside!!

Read moreAn amazing historic Chateau on the border of Burgundy and Champagne. Extremely peaceful location in a small village which has been owned by the same family for 3 generations.||Only opened as a Chambre D'Hote last Summer and it is run superbly by Etienne and his Wife, Veronique who are fully occupied renovating the various buildings surrounding the Chateau, including a small chapel.||The 5 bedrooms are all really comfortable. We stayed for an overnight stop in the Chambre Rouge which also includes a lovely breakfast of homemade & local products.||Etienne & Veronique cooked a delicious table d'hote dinner for my wife and I, as the only 2 guests that evening. Their Parents and children were also charming and we felt like we were part of the family.||The Chateau is still work in progress but that is part of the attraction.||Strongly recommended and excellent...
Read moreThis place is fantastic and is on our “must come back” list. We only booked for 2 nights and wished we could’ve stayed longer. With the peace and very comfortable beds, we had our best sleep in months. The owners of the chateau are amazing hosts. There’s an idyllic private park in the back. Definitely take the option of having dinner there. They were our best meals of the trip. And there is a plug (just a normal European plug socket) that can help charge your electric vehicle overnight (Tesla drivers, bring your universal charger). Also there’s good Wi-Fi and a fast 50 Mbps connection in the rooms. Go enjoy this countryside gem! It’s a great base for...
