Maison Duroy — Hotel in Nérac

Staying at Maison Duroy is a unique and formidable experience. It starts with the region that is referred to as Tuscany of France because of its rolling hills and where Henry IV went hunting a few hundred years ago. The building itself is a historic mansion on the outside and beautifully renovated on the inside, clearly by people who know and appreciate architecture, design, and art. The hotel has only four rooms, which ensures that every guest is treated in a personal way. In one of the least populated areas of France and thanks to the kind and friendly hosts, you will enjoy tranquility and relaxation. In addition to their rooms, guests are welcome to use the space on the ground floor, so that you immediately start feeling like at home. A few meters from the house, there is a pool and some deck chairs to enjoy a summer afternoon. |Rooms have no TV and the Internet is not always the best. Both are welcome invitations to disconnect from the rest of the world and to take in the beautiful landscape. If you expect to spend some time working remotely, you may want to check for some Internet back-up. |Nearest towns are Francescas and Nérac, where you will find restaurants etc.. Every now and then, the hosts will organize a “table d’hôte”, which means they will prepare dinner for anybody who wishes to join. Not to be missed, the food was delicious! Talking about the hosts: They are not only experts of the region and the hotel but charming and conversational about almost any topic you could think of. |The remoteness of Maison Duroy means that you need a (rental) car to access the hotel and to move around. ||A definite recommendation for anyone wishing to treat themselves to a relaxing and quiet stay in a stunning hotel in the countryside, either in summer (outdoors) or in spring / fall when you can take advantage of...

Our recent"séjour" at Maison Duroy was an amazing experience! The house is a masterpiece.

The entire property and the surroundings exude class, beauty and most of all authenticity.

The hosts are graceful, entertaining,helpful and charming. The "table d'hotes" dinner we had, was fabulous, the breakfasts under the old beams a perfect start of the day.

We also discovered and enjoyed the region around Francescas. Ideal for biking, hiking, discovering, relaxing.

Far from the maddening crowds, but so beautiful.

So much so..that it looks like we bought a house...

En arrivant fin août à Maison Duroy, nous ne nous attendions pas le moins du monde à passer avec ma femme et notre petite fille nos 2 plus beaux jours de l’été. Au bout d’un chemin à quelques kilomètres du petit hameau de Francescas, se trouve la maison de Francois et de sa femme (qui n’était pas là lors de notre visite). 
Chez eux, le divin réside dans les détails. La maison, ancienne maison de chasse de Francois Ier est sublime, décorée avec harmonie dans un style alliant chaleur et grande modernité. Tous les recoins laissent apparaitre, que l’endroit est parfaitement pensé, pourtant tout y parait en même temps parfaitement naturel. Le jardin, qui donne sur une vue stupéfiante est un savant mélange de sauvage et de subtile arrangement de la nature. Les chambres sont en réalité des suites. Le confort de la literie est exceptionnel. Les odeurs sont partout délicieuses. Je ne vous parlerai pas des salles de bains, un exemple de sobriété et d’élégance. Vous l’aurez compris le lieu est un must. Tout y est à la fois modeste et sublime. Enfin l’endroit ne serait rien sans son chef d’orchestre. Francois, qui nous a accueilli est un homme remarquable de délicatesse et d’intelligence. Il ont avec sa femme repensé cet endroit pour être un lieu de calme et de bien-être. C’est une personne parfaitement dévouée tant à sa maison qu’à ses hôtes. Sa manière de recevoir est le fruit de son expérience et beaucoup des standards des palaces se retrouvent dans son art du service. Enfin, sa cuisine est exquise et les diners que nous avons passés sur place étaient tout à fait exceptionnel. Nous tenions réellement (et publiquement) à le remercier de nous avoir accueilli chez lui, et nous espérons pouvoir y revenir régulièrement pour se ressourcer dans ce havre de paix et de goût.
