As a tour guide I get to stay in many, many hotels ranging from amazing luxury to economic simpleness to complete hovels!|||| Before I had met Phillipe (the hotel owner and manager/barman/cook/bottlewasher and receptionist!) I knew it was going to be a good stay because of his charming attitude which was both efficient and friendly. I had also done a quick google search and could clearly see that this hotel was special. Simple and small but charming.|||| I had a group of 35 American high school kids plus their chaperones and we'd had a long, long day with several disappointments and let downs having travelled from Paris that morning by bus!!! This was in June so it was hot as well.|||| From the first moment of checking in I knew all was going to be well as the hotel lends itself to a relaxing atmosphere and everything was dealt with in a smooth and unrushed fashion. The kids loved the rooms which were fun, funky, individual and ,above all, clean and comfortable.|||| After a quick freshen up we were treated to an al-fresco dinner under a grape vine (I think) in the garden. The meal was simple and typical of the area but what was so special was the relaxing balm after such a torrid day. Some of the students use the pool which must have been refreshing and very welcome. I remember thinking how appreciate I was to be staying here as opposed to one of those souless modern places with no charm.|||| If I have the pleasure to stay here again it will be something I will look forward to. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who is looking for a quiet, simple place with some real proper charm and excellent...
Read moreWe stayed in the Zen room - literally decorated with Budda/Zen type pictures and adornments. Fun and different and not overly done. Each room has a different theme, but equally as charming and a nice change from the every day hotel Ask for a room with a balcony, the neighborhood is very green and lovely and french doors open from the room to the outside. The rooms and bathrooms are not very big, but comfortable for a night or two. The staff is completely helpful and will go out of their way to assist. The food was absolutely amazing. Dinner was beef done perfectly in a red wine sauce and scalloped potatoes - this meal ranked as one of the best I've ever enjoyed. I've stayed in many, many hotels (probably over 100) and the experience at this property was overwhelming wonderful. It is not meant as a luxury hotel, but it is nice. What I experienced was a property that is part relaxing, could be romantic, and was definitely what I envisioned as a quaint, lovely French experience.||||This is a small property, more of a Chateau or large estate versus a hotel. There is a small Koi pond, small pool, and two cats and a dog that are friendly as they live on the property, but not obnoxious and won't approach if you don't invite. There are many steps (~12) that lead to entrance (not friendly to those needing ramps or assistance). Just FYI if you or those traveling with you...
Read moreWe were given a literally filthy room for the rather steep price of 120€. After asking to change rooms, we were given the "coup de grace" with the second room. The bathroom was halfway covered in various shades of molds, one of the cushions in the bed had a fresh blood stain on it and we discovered bedbugs, amongst other critters, which in itself is a feat considering bedbugs pretty rare in France to begin with. We left in the middle of the night and drove a few miles to another, much cheaper and much cleaner hotel in the next town. I cannot imagine how the positive reviews about this hotel came to be. Locals reported hearing this for the thousands time when we stopped at a café in Roquemaure to have breakfast the next morning. Never, ever again, i'd rather sleep in the middle...
