I reserved 2 days at this Chambre d'hote over Easter. On arrival we met a locked metal gate, we phoned the number but no reply, we climbed over and walked to the house - empty...we kept phoning till 17.30 when the bloke replied and came to open the gate and give us some keys. The closest restaurant is 15km away in Aigue Morte. The worst thing was that he had only booked us for one night. My email said ' je voudrais une chambre a 4 pour les 2 nuits' which he confirmed - on the telephone the next morning, he only spoke french ' vous avez mal compris madame'. ME??!!..so, on easter sunday I had to start looking for a hotel with a family room...Our room was cramped for 4 - it rained all weekend and there's nothing to do around here in the rain - or sun - you have to drive over 15km to find anything for kids. Read moreI spent 2 nights at the Manade St Louis with my 9 year old grandson. It is a bull farm where bulls are raised to take part in the courses camarguaise (no killing or harming the animals in any way). it is beautiful and comfortable. But the best thing is the "veillee camarguaise".||We saw young bulls being branded, horses and riders showing incredible skill, followed by a great meal with entertainment provided by a guitarist and a singer.||I was impressed by the Manade, the activities and the owners and their team. It is also great value for money. The Camargue is one of the most interesting places in the world with its swamps, wild horses, pink flamingoes and beautiful Bulls. Thou toughly recommended....

The accommodation was beautiful, spotless, staff very friendly and the grounds with horses and bulls, outside seating, access to kitchen and lots of activities on site if you want to take part including Jeep Safari, tractor trails and events, a local produce shop. Aigues-Mortes, beautiful walled medieval town, so wonderful to see. La Grande-Motte fabulous beach stop at Cafe Jules on the sea front with a stunning harbour. Horse riding by the hour 1km away.
