We stayed here in June 2022 but I have only just gotten around to writing this review.|My husband & I and our two dogs Dorcas & Daisy took our tent to Camping Brantôme Peyrelevade. We choice this site as we loved Brantôme and this is such a short walk to town, 800 meters or so.|This was one of the best camping sites we have ever stayed at. The welcome from the start was perfect, so friendly & helpful. They gave us a map of the site with our pitch clearly marked, and a bonus, we had the largest pitch right next to the river, perfect for the dogs.|We had an electric hook right next to the tent and water was at the entrance to our pitch. One of the sanitary block (the largest of the three) was a very short walk away. The toilets, showers (single, double, family sized & shower washbasin combo) and washbasin area was always very clean and nothing was broken or missing. |The pool looked wonderful but we didn't use it as we couldn't leave the dogs in the tent. The restaurant had plenty of seating inside & out and being able to order pizza, made on site, was great as we were out of the high season. The small supermarket was well stocked and of course, you were able to order your baguettes, croissants etc for breakfast by a certain time the day before. |There is a great play ground for the kids and everything was well maintained, and the small man made sandy beach on the edge of the river was a great idea.|The rentals, of which there are plenty of several different sizes, styles and prices, were on a really good sized plot. All had a parking spot, either next to the rental or just a few yards away. These, we are very interested in trying out on our next visit.|The campsite was always spotless, the gardener was doing a grand job keeping the place tidy. There were several dogs on the site and we never saw any dog mess left behind. Our youngest dog Daisy, did find the two goats in the garden next to the entrance, very interesting. Dorcas not so much, but when we lived in the UK, we kept goats so she grew up with them.|Our dogs loved this campsite, as did we. The short easy walk to town (away the main road) made it so safe and quiet to get to Brantôme in 10 mins.|This is a campsite we will return to. We would like to try a rental one time but if we return with the tent, we will be asking for the same plot.....but I am not telling you which it is lol|This could very well be our top campsite that we have ever been...
Read moreA pleasant surprise, beautiful location, quiet and comfortable! Many English, Dutch and French families. Brantôme is a delightful town. Canoe hire a 10 minute walk. We got the best spot (but not gonna tell you which one;) We will return here for sure! Lots to do within half an hour drive (caves, canopy trail) and further away (one to one-and-a-half hour drive), castles, other caves etc.
Pros: Dead-end streets; saves a lot of 'traffic' and is good for social control. Clean and tidy. Price. Showers are well appointed, vandalism-proof touch button control
Negative points: -Price fries, snacks in the bar etc. is way too high; two large fries for 7.80 euros which in fact are only four (really) were small portions. -Toilets are mixed and around the campground is the total but just enough (on busy times). Again, that toilet-tensile dispense sheets, but during the day half if them are either empty or hidden/stuck in the dispensing hole. -Just two points with soap to wash your hands (one of which nota bene 'hidden' in a disabled toilet and the other 'hidden' in a corner opposite of the way out is way too little). Besides soap of latter is not refilled daily. -Showers also mixed, in total but narrowly enough, mostly at busy times. -Price of bread to order at the bar is reasonable for the price. The croissants are quite rancid; too buttery, the least quality we sampled at several places in France this year. -Reception is not open at 8 am as mentioned at the entrance, but 8.30. Tedious observation if you come by with nagging question punctually at 8am ... -There are only 3 parasols at the pool. Each set of beds should have an umbrella at least. -To lean animation program, logical, because there is only one animation lady. Football on the big field next to the campsite for example, can really be more regulated than 1x every 10 days .. "Bottles Football" we just arranged ourselves on our field, with families of six neighboring places, -with great success ! The one time a week every other day and time is...
Read moreMyself and my husband have just had an 11 night stay at this site and can not fault it. We had one of the grand comfort 200m2 pitches and had loads of space for car, awning etc. Our pitch was No5 just across from the pool and sanitary block which was a fantastic spot and we didn't suffer any noise or disruption being so close to the amenities which were spotless and cleaned several times a day. Plenty of hot water and yes toilet seats and loo roll plentiful!. The pool area was refurbished last winter and is superb a real sun trap and again spotlessly clean. The pool is only about 1.35m deep in total so was always a pleasant temperature for a nice dip and cool down. The shop is small but has all the basics and the baguettes and pastries that could be ordered for the following morning were lovely. We sampled the bar on a couple of occasions and one evening there was live music by way of an acoustic duo which was lovely. We never ate at the restaurant but it always looked good. Overall the site is well kept and spotless with a fantastic children's play area and small beach with access to the river. The owners were always about happy to chat or help where needed and always with a smile. This site should definitely be 4 stars and we will be...
