[En francais - sale, vieux, moche, mauvaise service - n'y allez pas !] We had booked a double room for 2 nights at this hotel, based on the Trip Advisor comments. When we got there, we did not get the double room we had booked but were put in a sort of 'Maisonette' down the garden - we walked in to a dark & dingy, 70s, dirty, tired, faded, old-fashioned lounge/kitchen with 'brown' everything and rusty bar stools. Up the cranky wooden stairs with just a rope for support (would this even pass health & safety?) to find a small room and bathroom - ants, spiders, cobwebs, dust and dirt - nice view though!! No internet or even phone network was available so as no staff were at the hotel, we had to leave to a nearby main road to get a connection to ring the hotel to complain and ask to be moved. They said nobody would be there until 6 and to come and see them then. We left our stuff (unpacked) in the room and came back at the end of the day as requested. After much discussion with a charming lady member of staff, the owner (via phone) refused to change our room or even give us a refund for both the first and second nights that we had paid in full - giving the reason we had used the room between 3 and 6!! We left for a small but charming B&B down the road as I could not bear to unpack my stuff in the dirty cupboard and sleep in such a disgusting place. The travel agent who had made the booking for us tried to get a refund and they refused - even for the 2nd night. The owner is a dishonest thief and we do not recommend this hotel based on quality nor customer service. ...
Read moreTravelling back from Spain we decided to detour into La Drome Provençal if only for some wine and to see if the Lavender fields were photoshopped in all the Photos. We aimed for Sault but stumbled across L'Oustau so made the booking. Our drive in was spectacular and when we got to the hotel there was an air of serenity about the place as you gazed across the Valley towards the Hillside village of Montbrun Les Bains. ||We were probably lucky to have Room 2 which came with its own balcony complete with very antique effect sun loungers, table and chairs, a nosy look in the wardrobe revealed the soft cushions to put on them, again you still just gazed at the view.||This is a nice small hotel, nicely decorated and both the Restaurant and Bar make a point of maximising the view. We had opted to eat at the sister restaurant in Montbrun Les Bains, but folks we spoke to at breakfast, outside on the covered patio, said that they had eaten in the Restaurant and were impressed with the quality of the food.||The parting gesture from the owner was to direct us towards the fields of Lavender near Sault then recommended the route down Gorges de la Nesque.||The lasting impression will be opening the window first thing and being presented with a framed...
Read moreYou get a great view and private terrace overlooking the valley from Room 2. We've been in Ireland, Great Britain, Germany and France for the past three weeks and this has been possibly the best view from a room so far - and that's comparing it against a Mont Blanc view at our last stay! Our host was very helpful (he also runs their restaurant, L'O des Sources, which was great!) and friendly. The room is good-sized and has one of the largest bathrooms of our trip. Double bed felt like a queen and was comfortable - no A/C but we were quite comfortable with the window open all night. And a real plus! I can't remember ever laying on a hotel bed, looking out the window, and seeing stars! Awesome! Another plus! Your view includes a castle ruin a couple of...
