I must confess, I am the luxury traveler and like modern hotels with spacious rooms and equal bathrooms. This auberge is the exception to the rule.||The drive uphill makes you think, where am I going and what I am going to find?||How can there be a hotel here, in the middle of nowhere?||Rest assured, you'll be surprised in a very good way.||||The auberge is located on top of the hill, in a very small village with less than 40 people. The building itself used to be a monastery a very long time ago, but continues to serve as a gathering place for the community next to its commercial nature.||||The owners have created a wonderful place, with keen eye to detail with respect to the ancient construction. You will find yourself in a mediaval surrounding, with reference to its past as a monastery but also with a knights-theme. And very nicely done indeed.||We had the biggest room, the Galahad, with the big window overlooking the valley.||All details are done to perfection: the big bed with knight on horse on bedboard, the knight on the shower enclosure, the stone tiles, everything is impeccable and superbly executed. ||||Julie is the perfect host and cook! She served us a lovely home made three courses dinner, and made us feel at home and welcome. She is a great story teller too and we were very happy she made time to sit with us and tell us more about the building and the community she and her family are living in.||||I can highly recommend this place. It may have a 3 star rating but overall, the auberge deserves 5 stars in eye to detail, warmth...

The rooms were really lovely, very quirky, comfortable and absolutely spotless. We had a fantastic rustic evening meal, seriously good food, wine and conversation, the breakfast was delicious too, both meals were exceptionally good value.Julie is a wonderful host and a genuinely warm and friendly person, she went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, I can't praise her, the food or the accommodation enough. Also was lovely to meet Francisco and his family. To wrap up my review all I can say is if you are considering booking don't give it a second thought, book now. You will have an experience that will stay with you for a very long time..this place and these people are very...
Read moreWe had a lovely one night stay here enroute through the Pyrenees from France to Spain. It is quirky but done with style. Facilities are excellent and the welcome from Xavier, the host/owner was genuinely warm. He wanted us to enjoy his creation, which we did. His lovely wife provided top quality restaurant class food. Very good. Meals are taken all together around a large refectory table. That may not be to everyone's taste but we much enjoyed talking to the young German couple on one side and French couple on the other. So to us a positive rather than negative. Given the wonderful location slightly off the beaten track up in the mountains I suspect that one is generally going to find yourself in the company of like minded people, whatever your nationality. I would definitely recommend...
