Maison Paillet — Hotel in Oloron-Sainte-Marie

The B&B run by a friendly English couple which made communications much easier for us who have very little French. We spent a couple of hours talking to the host David and it was very pleasant and enjoyable. David was very friendly and obliging, helped us with booking accommodations, restaurants & advising local attractions, maps and tips.||||The house had a lot of character and with lovely views of the surrounding farms & the Pyrenees in the distance. The common lounge was very large but we spent most of the time sitting out on the terrace. Breakfast was served in the lounge as mornings were getting a bit cool. Breakfast was good with tea, coffee, juice, cereals, bread, cold meat, fruits, jam & yogurt. Internet was very good throughout the building. ||||We had the room with a balcony and the views were to die for. We watch a lot of Tour de France so having a balcony with the views of the lush rolling hills and Pyrenees was very special. We booked for 2 nights, felt in love with the place and came back for 2 more nights. The room was large with a nice sitting area and a large and modern bathroom. Coffee/tea facility was available in the room was a bonus. In our second visit, we had the room in the attic with views from 3 sides of the house. The room was quite cute.||||Service was great. David semi serviced the room daily - tidied up the room, emptied rubbish, removed dirty glasses and cleaned the sink. An incredible place with astonishing surroundings. Our hosts were gracious and welcoming and gave good tips regarding the surroundings. The room was spotless and very well arranged and designed. ||The breakfast was good basic french (baguette, croissant, cereal, cheese and ham). Wifi was good even in the top-most room.||||The place is a bit tricky to find so do use (not like us) the map that you get by email.||||The highlight of the place is the view and walkable area. Our two nights with Tottie and David in their splendid home was a highlight of an already beautiful trip between Spain and France. We didn't want to leave and thought of changing our other travel plans. The home is beautifully located, cozy, wonderful amenities, the surroundings for walks unparalleled and the local villages and food options lovely.
