We were so looking forward to visiting this châteaux and whilst there were good bits there were also disappointing bits…|We were allotted a room in the old and historic house/chateaux which was little forbidding. When I managed to winch open the front door which was extremely heavy there was a smell of cigarette smoke which took me by surprise …. Unpleasant. There is another review on TripAdvisor mentioning the smell of smoke.|There is a grand staircase which was showing it’s age and needs herring up.|Our room was very large. |No facility for making tea and coffee. I wondered if it was because there were no plugs in a safe place to have a kettle which would have constituted a fire hazard.|Bed and pillows were very good.|Bedside table only on one side one, and a kind of shelf/ cubby hole for the other side… which was a stretch to access if you wanted a sip of water in the night.|However the shower room had been recently updated… and a hot towel rail which is a plus when the towels are medium sized and nice to have them dry and warm for the next use. |We had arrived early so we could take advantage of the many hectares which are advertised for our use… however, no obvious paths, no signage apart from a couple of notices on trees saying no entry! We had been in the car for two days and were longing for a good stomp.|We then had tea in the reception, which is pleasant… staff are friendly and do a good job. |Dinner was excellent and I had prewarned them that I have food intolerances which they had prepared for which was really nice.|I would not stay there again, but I’m sure it will suit lots of people!|My three stars are based on the bathroom, bed and pillows, the dinner and...
Read moreVery good value for money, but many details could be improved. Overall the chateau and hotel buildings are charming, but dated and in need of some TLC. I personally like the kind of 90's/early 00's interior decoration style for its nostalgic quality, but to most guests it will look like it needs a good re-furb. That said, things like wobbly door handles, marked paintwork and cracked window panes do need addressing. The facilities themselves are good, including the restaurant, courtyard, a lovely swimming pool and terrace, the historic chateau, tennis courts and horses. Some creative thought could improve these though. For example, outside food/drinks are not allowed by the pool (as many, many signs remind you), so why not have a bar service at the pool area? Similarly, the food in the restaurant is good, but has some of the slowest service I've ever encountered. Staff are quick to direct you to their other colleagues on front desk / at the bar / etc, where they could easily helped you themselves. A lot of potential, but needs some money spending on it, and a...
Read moreTo all prospective customers considering this hotel, I trust you will find this review informative.||As evident from the photos, there exists a substantial contrast between what the hotel advertises on this platform and other websites and what you will actually experience upon booking.||Upon voicing our concerns to the Manager, we were presented with alternative options. Two of these rooms had recently been painted, emitting a strong paint odour. The third option closely resembled the photos I have uploaded.||The rooms exhibit a significant lack of modernity and appear noticeably worn. In my opinion, they are not commensurate with the price being charged. It is undeniable that the photos provided by the hotel do not accurately depict reality. When we requested a price concession, the response was simply, “We’ve offered you alternatives!”||I trust this review aids you in your quest for accommodation...
