Overall summary for Le Cabellou Plage camping is a very good campsite. An excellent location with a beach literally on the door step and the main centre of Concarceau within easy reach. The facilities are good with a reasonable sized swimming pool with slides, very clean facilities and extremely helpful staff. We stayed in a comfort caravan with 2 bedrooms; for a family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers this was sufficient. The advantage of these caravans is their central location within the site and garden area around them, which provides a pleasant outdoor space and some privacy. In contrast, the new caravans appear to have not had the same thought to their placement and have no garden area. The kids loved the site. There are plenty of activities for them to join in during the day and the evening entertainment is a main attraction. We also used the kayaks and Stand Up Paddle-boards from the camp in the bay which were good fun.
Points for improvement. The shop is basic but covers all the essentials that you might need. Need to understand exactly what is and is not in the caravan before you arrive. We needed to bring a kettle and some additional kitchen implements like knifes. For men it is handy to know that shorts are not acceptable in the pool and a pair of swimming trunks will be required.
We would would certainly...
Read moreOur week in one of the 5 safari tents was fantastic. The staff were outstanding - they are a good team, really looking like they are enjoying themselves, which helped us enjoy ourselves all the more. The pool is great, really clean, with lots of loungers. Beaches nearby are lovely but you need to walk/drive to the best sandy ones. Our family loves clambering around on rocks so there was plenty of scope for that (and the ensuing injuries of course!) Sunsets over the bay were really special. You can hire SUPs, go-karts, bikes and kayaks, so for the ill-equipped (us) it was perfect. Evening entertainment was small scale but fun - suited us fine. The safari tent was great - large, reasonably equipped, but you just need to bring your own travel kettle if you're a tea-aholic like me. If you're taking your own linen, our English stuff didn't fit the square pillows and square duvets but it was good enough. Nearest supermarket is a big Intermarche, 4 min drive away, with everything you might need and fantastic fresh fish. The area is quite suburban but you don't have to travel far to find some culture...
Read moreWe spent some family time at this campground. My daughter loved the playground and the pools. Our home was in the 'pedestrian' area which was quite nice. The gardens were rather big (for a campground), providing enough space to have kids playing there or to place loungechairs etc.||It's a quick drive over to Concarneau (or a nice walk). The peninsula of Cabellou allows a lot of walks and hikes at the coastline. The larger area offers a lot to see and do, so it's the ideal location to explore this region.| |The ground and the mobile home were both as promised on the pictures, they really walk the talk. Operations run smoothly, e.g. check-in & out were done quickly and well.||It is clearly listed what's in the rate and what's not, so that's very transparent - no nasty surprise, very appreciated. |Nevertheless, I feel that the price for the 'extras' is rather high, e.g 15 EUR/week for wifi for 1 device, 90 EUR for final cleaning etc. ||We enjoyed our stay. If we visit that region again, we will...
