We were exploring the area and looking for somewhere to stay with our motorhome. Had a really bad experience in Carnac, where we were shoved between statics and were charged an excessive amount for the privilege. Discovered this site and originally planned to stay just two nights, we ended up remaining there for the rest of our holiday. ||It is a pleasant, quiet, mature and well-run site, with excellent facilities and literally less that two minutes walk from the very attractive little town of La Foret Fouesnant. Lots to do in the town and surrounding area, with good public transport links to places such as Concarneau and Quimper (only two euros pp each way on the bus). There are a few bars and restaurants, a sufficient rang of shops, weekly markets and an outstanding boulangerie within two hundred yards of the campsite. The local church is beautiful and the town has several walks and cycle ride routes around the bay.||We saw lots of other campsites in the area, most of which seemed to adopt the "sardines" approach, which is fine, if that's your thing. We prefer having space to relax in a little and this site suited us perfectly. We shall...
Read moreIt seems that many campsites opening for Easter, say, do open their doors for tourists while they are getting ready for the season. This was just such a site and, although it did not spoil our stay, there was a lot of activity around us and ‘Reception’ was only open as required. On arrival, we were able to contact the lady from reception by ringing a mobile phone number for her to come down to greet us. The pitches were still soft from the rain, so we parked our motorhome on the solid verge alongside. It is a lovely terraced site, but it could have been better with all the facilities open. I’m sure that summer visitors will be pleased. It is a lovely place and there aren’t many campsites so near to the centre of a village. There didn’t seem to be any public transport though, so we had to drive to our various destinations. The Tourist Office seemed to have been closed for some time. It’s a great centre for visiting Concarneau and the famous Pant-Aven. We...
Read moreCamping de Penn Ar Ster is very well situated minutes away from the shops, good restaurants, bars and weekly Sunday morning market of La Foret-Fouesnant. The site is beautifully laid out giving a great deal of privacy if you want it. The facilities are clean and the owners are friendly and helpful. It isn't your usual campsite - it doesn't have a swimming pool or kids club so it tends to be quieter than most. However, it does has a tennis court and childrens' play area plus boules area and mini golf and there is a public swimming pool in Fouesnant, about 5km away.||La Foret-Fouesnant is a beautiful village, very popular in July/August with regular local typical Breton entertainment in the outdoor theatre. There is an 18 hole golf course in the village and a large marina close by in Port La Foret, with a wonderful weekly evening market. The nearest beach is 3km away and there are lots of beautiful walks/cycle paths...
