Stayed here for 3 nights in September '06. Combrit-Saint Marine is a small town about 20 minutes from Quimper. It's a really small town. It would be better if you have your own car, but we didn't, so we took a taxi from Quimper train station. During our stay we just used bicycles rented from the hotel.||The hotel is sort of like summer resort/camp kind of thing. On the site it has tennis courts, basketballs, pools, etc. You are not right by the beach, but within easy walking distance. The walk is quiet pleasant though. You can also pick wild berries along the walk. When we were there it was the start of their low season so it was extremely quiet, and not that many people staying at the hotel at all. Unfortunately since it was low season, they just closed their hotel restaurant so we were not able to have dinner there. They were opened for daily breakfast though.||The people there are so nice and helpful, it's just incredible. I do speak beginner/intermdiate French and it does come in handy because people in Bretagne are not like Parisiens - many don't speak English or they can only speak a little. I like it though because it allows me to practice my French. But again, the staff at the hotel is so warm and nice. The day of our departure we had to leave very early for our train, and the staff actually came in earlier just to serve us breakfast. The guy stayed to chat with me (my BF doesn't speak French) until our taxi arrived. And he was trying to make sure the taxi didn't come late. ||We spent a lot of time in Saint Marine because it's a "bigger" town. You don't come here for action, but for relaxation and some leisurely pace. We biked all over Ile Tudy, Combrit and Saint Marine. Biking on the bike path along the beach is very enjoyable. The bike path gets cut-off sometimes, so you will have to do some manuvering on residential streets to get back on the path along the beach. ||There's a crepe place called Saint Misaine in Saint Marine that I recommend. The crepes are awesome and the owner is very nice. There's a nice little boulangerie in Ile Tudy that I recommend also (but then which boulangerie in France isn't good?). They only open for limited hours each day so get there early. ||If you need to buy whatever, there's a supermarket called Super U quite close to the hotel. Not walking distance, but definitely biking distance.||I highly recommend...
Read moreWe stayed at the Quality inn for 2 nights while visiting friends. ||||The hotel is clean, check-in very smooth and the staff very friendly. We had booked a family room, which was located on the second floor of the main hotel building. The decor of the room, while not ultra modern, is clean and extremely spacious, with 2 bedrooms (2 single beds {up a stairs}), sitting room and main bedroom with a double and a single bed. Both the main bedroom and sitting room have balcony's (no table or chairs on them).||||However, the one thing that lets this hotel down is the grounds, strangely not mentioned in many reviews. The hotel appears to have once utilised numerous "residence" style duplexes which now appear unoccupied/unused some in serious need of repair. These residences surround the hotel and due to their appearance really drag down the appearance of the hotel and give it a rundown feel (The main hotel is spotless). In addition, there are several other builds which appear to have been unused for some time all in a similar condition to the duplexes. Furthermore, the grass/flower beds around this area are over grown and look very shabby. All this combined makes you feel you are wondering around an abandoned hotel, until you arrive back at the main hotel.||||The hotel boosts, basketball and tennis courts. The basketball courts have seen better days, the tennis courts appear playable.||||However, If you do not venture out of the main hotel (past the pool) the above would not be an issue.||||The pool area, was clean and well kept and contained a small Jacuzzi, although the kiddie pool was drained of water.||||We did not try the breakfast, which was an additional EUR12.||||There is an excellent beach nearby (approx 2km) {no lifeguard} and a short drive away there is a SuperU supermarket. The hotel is very central to several villages and towns worth visiting and therefore cannot be faulted on location.||||So was I disappointed - Yes and No! The grounds bring down this hotel , no one wants to see over grown gardens, paths and abandoned buildings...while you lie on a pool lounger! However. the staff and main hotel are faultless. The large family rooms make it ideal for families and it will be hard to beat on price (especially in...
Read moreFirstly, thanks to the staff who were great, from the person who took our booking ( it made my wife book ),to the staff cleaning the bedrooms.|| The hotel was fully booked over the period we stayed ( the weekend of 11th August to 5th Of August ) however it did not seem like it ,first time i have been to a hotel and never had to wait for a lift to be free. The actual hotel is looking very tired and needs a lot of T L C, The room was on two floors our bed was down stairs and the childrens beds were upstairs with it's own bathroom great but no toilet. The stairs to get up are half steps (imagine the letter b put on it's side one way then the other way ) this is to take accont of the steepness of the stairs . With young children not very safe. This was pointed out to us at the time of booking. We have Twin 1 year olds and it was difficult to carry them up to (and down ) the travel cots . No room for missing a step.||The room was funtional and a very good size downstairs. The bathroom lacked good lighting i.e. no light in the shower or over the mirror for the ladys.||No room has what i would call a view but if you know this then it's not a let down.||The very good point was the restaurant in the evening ,the food was a delight and srvice was good. i would urge the management to look at a bit more of a varied menu as we only stayed 4 nights but nearly had everything on the menu despite daily specials. If you like fish your OK.||The outside area is also very tired , he pool area is now just one pool ,heated!!!||no juquzzi and no childrens pool and the actual pool had side shelfs which are not very clear and at first you may stubb your toes against it.||We did enjoy the stay ,would we return ,maybe the jury...
