Le Barn — Hotel in Rambouillet

We really wanted to like this place, but it was one of the worst experiences we’ve ever had at a Hotel.||We stayed at Le Barn for a week. We were getting out of the city in search of nature and peace. ||Firstly, Le Barn is difficult the reach without a car. There is no connecting shuttle between the closest train station and the hotel. They charged us €25 to be picked up from that train station, a 15 minute drive, and we were charged €30 back...||The lobby was helpful, but the restaurant was a disaster. ||Their menu system was completely broken, they force you to use a QR-code website, many of the items were not available, orders would get mixed up, or arrive with completely different ingredients.||There seemed to be no presence of management. Staff were unavailable. Most seemed inexperienced, confused and rude.||We constantly had to request basic things like water and butter. They often never arrived.|Orders would come at random times. Drinks often long after food. ||Other guests were clearly frustrated by the lack of competence. We witnessed one complain only to be argued back at by staff.||Breakfast was mediocre during the week, they add more things on the weekend. As other reviews have mentioned, there were wasps flying all over the buffet.||It was not a tranquil experience. There was heavy machinery doing construction by the lake, forcing us to leave. ||The hotel was filled with groups doing teambuilding activities - separate from the guests. They had their own food, drinks. They frequently blasted loud dance music in the afternoon, ruining the ambiance. Because of these activities, there was no space to work at the hotel, only a loud lobby area. There aren't even any comfortable seats in the garden, only a few camping chairs.||The room was fine, but our bathroom had a plumbing problem and stunk of stale water. Cleaners never replaced toilet-paper, tea or coffee. ||I could go on and on…||For the amount you pay you should get kinder service, good food and the tranquility of the French countryside promised on their website. ||I don’t recommend...
