Salines Garden Cottages is great home base to enjoy the beauty of St. Barth's. Tucked into tranquil hillside gardens just minutes from Salines Beach with five guest rooms, proprietor Jean-Philippe and his wife, Laurence, have created a beautiful and personal oasis on the quieter side of the island away from the busier areas of St. Jean and Gustavia. Low discreet lighting throughout the property allows for unprecedented stargazing at night. During the day, birdsong and lush landscaping makes sitting outside on the accompanying patios an absolute escape. ||||Located at the end of short winding dirt road up the hillside, Salines Gardens is still only a moment's drive to the beach, bakery, restaurants and shopping yet just far enough off the beaten track that you can fully appreciate it's restorative seclusion and charm. ||||Jean-Philippe is a great host and will help you navigate any questions you throw his way. Beach towels, umbrellas, chairs are all available and they'll help you with laundry if needed. ||||I requested a unit with a kitchenette--it was compact, yet well-appointed, with full size refrigerator, gas burners and an outdoor charcoal grill. A dining table, sitting area and drying rack for clothes made outside living a breeze. ||||The bedroom is small but nicely appointed with a comfortable bed, a/c and ceiling fan. The bathroom, recently renovated, is small yet efficient and well-appointed too. ||||Outside in the common area you'll find a warm splash pool surrounded by teak chaise lounges, breakfast area, and two seating areas. ||||Salines Gardens is such a treasure because it seems to embody the charm of St Barth's before the island became the international luxury destination it is today. Personal hospitality, comfortable accommodations set in beautifully designed gardens make this a place you'll love if you're looking for a...

Read moreWe simply adored our stay here. The cottages are minimally yet tastefully appointed and we did not want for anything (there was even an outdoor towel drying rack nearby which was super useful after swims). As far as location goes, it couldn't be better, you are right in between what were two of our favourite beaches on the island - Saline and Gouverneur.||||The owners of the property Laurence and Jean-Philippe were kind, friendly and had great suggestions for eating out and exploring. At the same time though, they knew exactly when to pop in and chat or give guests space and privacy. Despite there being others around, it still felt very secluded and private with everyone respecting and not overcrowding pool or common areas.||||Having Laurence arrange for car rental and then meet us at the airport was such a plus for us - super convenient and made settling in a breeze. We also enjoyed talking with other guests at breakfast time and met some lovely people.||||We are a couple and for what we wanted - something tranquil, tasteful, and more moderately priced, it was perfect. We feel lucky to have been able to experience Laurence and Jean-Philippe's little paradise and would love to stay again sometime if the timing works out....
