I was actually going to cancel based on the google reviews, some are quite harsh but some are completely correct! Given it was only for three nights we went ahead but frankly I was dreading it. Reception staff were polite on arrival & we were directed to the rent a tent reception where we were shown our tent which was clean & well maintained. Our plot was at the back of four tents & felt cramped in especially with parking our car too, others plots had much more room to spread out. The ground in the tent was uneven & when sitting at the table outside you felt you were falling backwards with the slope, we did try & change it around but with the lack of space this was difficult. The site is in major need of a task force showing up & sorting it out, for such a beautiful setting by a lake with a equally beautiful village a short walk away it was sad to see it neglected. The outdoor pool was ok, indoor one closed even though promises of it opening in 2024 & conflicting information if it was open. Changing rooms & foot baths were dirty & the pool had a strange gate system to get between the pool & big slides. No lifeguards, occasionally one at the top of the slides, pool dance consisted of one song! A lack of staff everywhere, hardly saw staff around. I did do zumba which was good. The bar/restaurant was ok, it needed a good clean & sweep outside but the drinks & ice cream, pizza was good. We didn’t go to any of the evening entertainment, we did go the arcade place which was frankly depressing, tiny shop in reception which really needs to be relocated into the massive underused arcade with a library from the 1960’s! I understand it’s been taken over the site but from what I saw it’s had no investment in it & needs closing & sorting out. The washing facilities were fairly clean & it seemed fairly quiet at night. We spent time out of the site, in the village & by the lake which was very nice. And the last thing there were signs to say staff were wearing masks as they had a outbreak of whooping cough or 100 day cough if you are from the UK so be...
Read moreGreat location next to the lake and a pretty village, which you can walk to for bread in the morning and moules and frites in the evening. Swimming pool and slides are decent too - don't forget your tight trunks though! Food was okay at the bar although nothing flash, and did feel a bit run down. Dead plants in pots, ash trays over flowing on outdoor tables etc. Site was really busy when we we there with lots of kids, including big groups of teens. Also had single sex groups either side of us which you might not get at a lot of sites. Having said that, these are French teenagers and single sex groups, so they sat around chatting and smoking Camel ciggies most of the time, rather than getting bevvied up and causing problems like they might if they were British. The younger kids liked to ride at high speed around the site on bikes and scooters which would annoy some I'm sure, although we got our daughter her own scooter on the second day and she had great fun joining in the race. Toilet block was pretty standard for a French site and pretty unpleasant most of the time. Our nearest toilets were closed for one day although our youngest claimed that was her fault for unleashing a huge log the night before. Apologies if that was the case. All in all, we had a great holiday, although not sure if it was because of the site or despite the site.
PS
Forgot to mention the DJ was very close to getting his microphone inserted in his own log hole on the first night as he was still making noise at 1am. And we saw a coypus in the lake. Staff also very friendly although didn't see anyone over 25 all week. Felt several times the site was lacking a good manager to tell the staff to water plants, empty ash trays, tell people to shut the heck up after 11pm, that...
Read moreHugely disappointed with this campsite. I specifically choose a site which has pitches with private bathroom facilities. At no point was it clear that those facilities were not actually on the pitch. I have an injury that makes walking painful and I have two disabled children that can not be left unsupervised to goto the toilet. And it’s not even as if the closest pitches were used to the block with the private bathrooms, you had to walk past other pitches and the general toilet blocks to get to them. ||The kitchen facilities were an absolute joke - a fridge dumped in the middle of the pitch, a bbq and griddle plate in such a disgusting state as to constitute a health risk. How we were supposed to use the fridge and microwave obviously had not been considered as both items had French plugs with nowhere to plug them in and they didn’t have any protection from the elements. There was no washing up on the pitch which is a basic requirement of any kitchen.||The noise at night, every night into the small hours was horrendous.||Although there were staff on site that spoke English, on checkin to the site only French speaking staff were available.||The pool area is ok, but only a small strip (maybe a metre wide) around the edge of the pool is smooth to walk on. The rest of the area is like a rough peddledash which is not kind to your feet, and there is a fair amount of grit in the pool from this.||We did not use the general toilets or showers so can not comment on the cleanliness of these.||If I could have found another campsite with availability, I...
