We had the recent pleasure to stay at the Le Jardin de Moulis on a planned hiking trip to the Arriege region. What we found was perfect for us as an active, social yet quiet couple. We stayed in the biggest of 4 spaces, with a small, well equipped kitchenette space. We enjoyed the continental style breakfast each morning with our hosts homemade treats, (jams, compotes, yogourt and a new flavour of coffee style cake each day, those are just the homemade portion of the offerings) . Both of our hosts were ready, able and willing to help with our research on nearby hikes and they always had a smile. We were welcomed with umbrellas for our rainy arrival and sent off with hugs and good wishes at the end of our 6 night stay. We loved every minute of our time here near St-Girons country side. Our view was fantastic, our outdoor area of this amazing garden space was a true gem of a find. Patrick is the customer interaction specialist while Jonathan is the Chef, he creates incredible 3 course dinners that you can reserve for, called chef's surprise menu. We dined 2 times and were in awe of the plate presentations and the real wonderful flavours. He uses his own garden as inspiration and uses their own grown items to create these wonderful meals. The fig tree was fruiting during our stay, he made us fig tiramisu, fig gelato and we...
Read moreThe communication prior to our stay was good. The room was smaller than the website photograph but was comfortable with plenty of outdoor space. We had booked two vegetarian Tables d'hôtes at 27 euros and unfortunately our host had no idea what to cook for a main course; although the food was good with home grown produce, a gaspacho with a poached egg is a starter, not a main course. The customer service went to overfriendly to downright rude. We asked for a hot chocolate after the meal and were told 'non' it wasn't part of the after meal options. Bizarrely, it's mentioned on their menu! Jonathan the suddenly chenged his mind and said that exceptionally we could have one. The other 'non' without explanation was our request to have breakfast at 7am. We were starting a long distance hike and had a long day that day, something we explained. As we were leaving, again Jonathan changed his mind and told us a few minutes later that we could. All this oui-non made us feel very uncomfortable. The rules - made by them - stated in English that breakfast could be had at 7am and in French at 7:30am! Nice location and room but they have still to learn about customer service as they are sending mixed messages. That said, they agreed we could leave our car on their property for the duration of our hike and kept a small bag of...
Read moreSpent two nights at Jardin Moulis. Patrick was a warm and gracious host and so helpful providing area recommendations for hiking and restaurants intown. DO NOT MISS DINNER HERE AT HOME THOUGH! Jonathon is an incredible chef using a variety of vegetables, herbs and eggs from the garden. The best homemade yogurt for breakfast. Unbelievable dinner-accommodating both a vegetarian and meat lover. Beautiful presentation. We gave them 3 Michelin *. Rooms and bath appeared newly renovated and bed was comfortable. Great hike 30 min away. Thai dinner in St Girons was delicious. Friendliest town on the planet. Don’t forget to take Euros as many don’t take credit cards (Read the signs “NO CB”). However, don’t worry because when our ATM card failed to work at the bank, a local patron paid for our meal and simply exchanged contact info trusting we would pay him back somehow. Never met a friendlier town in...
