When we arrived here,Karen the owner asked the reason for our visit so I said we were going to an arts festival close by, to which she replied, ‘so you’re arty farty, are you?’ Really? This set the tone for our stay. |First night’s sleep was awful. I finally took off the mattress protector that could have resisted a tsunami but was then rudely woken up by wave after wave of screaming cockerels (dawn to breakfast). |The next day we came back after lunch for a swim and the cover was on so we went upstairs for a siesta. I woke up, went downstairs and asked Karen if the cover could be removed, to which she took great pleasure in pointing to the pool, by then open again. She told me that room towels could not be used for the pool area and walked off. |That night, with the protector off, I slept fine until the incessant chorus started up again. At breakfast I mentioned the cockerels to Karen and she told me they belonged to the neighbours and that nothing could be done about them. When I asked if there were any eggs, she said they didn’t do them. Ironic. |On leaving I complained about the above and asked for a reduction. Karen shouted to her husband, who came into the room and said no. He didn’t look in the mood for confrontation so we left and went to a cafe in the town, where I received a call from the booking site, who had been contacted by the owners, fearful of a poor review. Well, here it is. |If the sound of cockerels is an issue for you,...
Read moreThis gite complex is run by an English family who have settled in France. The rooms are all outside the main house (their home) and are tastefully decorated, clean and spacious. We stayed in the old "bake house" which was lovely. We didn't make use of the pool or gym as we were only there one night. The gite is a short drive from St Jean D'Angeley which has lots of eateries. We chose to pick up a takeaway pizza and sat outside on the provided table and chairs with a bottle of cider. Breakfast was good and the dining room is lovely. Perfect location, lovely and quiet,...
Read moreMy wife and I only stayed one Sunday night on our way back to England. The B&B was very clean and tidy with pleasant rooms in the old outhouse. A small pool was available, as was a place to sunbathe and a small games room. I would say this place would be ideal for either a short stopover or a base to explore the area. Two very minor points for improvement, there was no communal lounge which would enhance the property and the wifi was very slow, neither a problem for a one night stay.||||Breakfast was typical French continental, dinners were available provided you...
