No hot water at night. Rudely treated. Total waste of money. Worst B&B experience in life.
After a day at le Mont St. Michel under 30°C, my parents and I returned to the B&B at 23:30 and started to take a shower but found NO HOT WATER. I had no other option than to knock on the landlady's door to report the problem and ask for solution. The landlady opened the door with an extremely bad attitude and snapped at me, BLAMING US FOR SHOWERING SO LATE (ridiculous, Guest is not allowed to take shower at 12 o'clock?). Her reaction made me feel like I was the one who did something wrong and asked for way too much. I proved to her that there was indeed no hot water and asked why and how to fix it, she said she had no idea. Then she went back to her room. No shower and no good sleep for us at that night. The next morning she said to me that the water boiler was set to ECO-Mode at night and she cannot change this setting (ridiculous, a B&B charges nearly 300€ a night and wants to save money by turning off hot water at night?!). I felt that this expensive B&B did not meet even the minimum requirement of an accommodation. We were not in the mood to stay another day and night. I asked for a refund which was refused.
After I complained to the booking platform, the landlady started another show. She was never able to refute the fact that there was no hot water, but consistently refused to refund me and complained to the platform about my misbehavior as a customer, including, but not limited to, sneaking alcohol (while she offered me cool-box), over-demanding, not eating breakfast, soiled the room. (ridiculous :-o)
I've been to over fifty countries and have stayed many accommodations, from a 700$ B&B in the USA to a 15€ B&B in Sarajevo as well as a 8€ hostel in Montenegro. As a nearly 300€ B&B, this one is the worst one between...
Read moreMy husband, parents, baby and I had a lovely four night stay at Laurence's Chambre d'Hote! She made us dinner one night, and it was restaurant quality. She also provided many homemade cookies, biscuits, and cakes during our stay. The breakfast was lovely. Delicious fruit, yogurt, french toast, eggs, toast, croissant, coffee, jams, caramel, etc. All set on a beautiful table. The runs were super clean and comfortable. The location is great if you're wanting to visit all the nearby Bretan villages. Be sure to check out the market in Dinan! Laurence graciously answered all our questions and gave great recommendations. We loved getting to know her! She also provided everything we needed for our 5 month old baby-crib, bath, sleep sack, music toy, etc.. Also you can park right in front of her house. We...
Read moreThe house is a renovated old traditional granite home across 3 floors. As a family we rented two rooms and had the top floor to ourselves including bathrooms. The rooms were large and nicely decorated. Laurence, the owner, was attentive to all our needs and provided lots of good tips on the surrounding sights and attractions. She is a former caterer and also cooks on demand (Table Hotes). The food was fresh, based on local tradition, and tasted great. Everything was well presented.
Note that you are in a small village 20 mins from St Malo, Cancale, Dinan, and Dinard. Mont St Michel is about 30 mins away.
