Camping La Fontaine — Hotel in Saint-Nazaire

We camped as a family with 3 children 7-11 years for 6 days in August. The best thing about this campsite are the friendly owners who were on hand to offer help with where to go, or running the reception or the little bar in the evening. ||||It's a mixed campsite with motor homes, tents and fixed mobile homes. To my surprise, it worked very well. We camped at the far end of the field in a quiet spot, so furthest from the facilities and evening noise, but with lots of room. All flat pitches.||||The facilities with showers, sinks for personal washing, open sinks for dish washing and great little washboard sinks for clothes washing were kept clean throughout. And a dedicated sink for shellfish washing! Lots of hot water too. There were laundrette facilities which we didn't need. ||||The children loved the swimming pool, little playground and being able to cycle around the campsite. We loved being able to order fresh pastries and bread each day for an early morning delivery to reception. ||||Did wonder what was happening the first evening, when there was very loud music for a good hour early evening. Turned out that it was a zumba class, which the children found very funny. There is the odd exercise class and the bar is open every evening, one evening with a local Breton band, but this is a small family place, not a big commercial outfit. We don't usually go for campsites with lots of facilities and the expectation of noise, but the entertainment added a bit of character without being too intrusive, at least where we were camping. The reception sells a few bits and pieces, but you need travel to the closest shops on the outskirts of Guerande. ||||Great stay, great place to travel out on visits in the area and hope to go...

Gepflegter Campingplatz; wird von einer Familie (Eigentümer) geführt; sehr grosse Stellplätze für Wohnwagen, Wohnmobile und Zelte. Camping besteht aus zwei Teilen (zwei separate Barrieren): In einem Teil (links von der Réception) befinden sich ausschliesslich Stellplätze für Wohnwagen, Wohnmobile und Zelte). Die Distanz von den Stellplätzen zum Sanitärgebäude ist z.T. sehr lang. Auf diesem Gelände befinden sich praktisch keine Frischwasserhähnen. Im anderen Teil (rechts von der Réception) befindet sich ein schönes Schwimmbad (wurde von uns nicht genutzt) und das moderne (und tiptop saubere) Sanitärgebäude. Dieser Teil wird beherrscht von Mobilehomes. Dazwischen hat es einige Stellplätze für Wohnmobile, Wohnwagen und Zelte. An den ersten vier Tagen unseres Aufenthalts gab es Probleme mit dem Warm-/Heisswasser: Kalt (bestenfalls lauwarmes) Duschen und kalt (bestenfalls lauwarmes) Abwaschen (Geschirr) war angesagt. Der Sanitärinstallateur war täglich auf dem Platz. Die Stellplätze wurden leider erst einen Tag nach unserer Ankunft gemäht. Folglich war auf unserem Platz der Rasen relativ hoch. WLAN funktionierte meistens gut bis sehr gut und das bis auf den Stellplatz bzw. in den Wohnwagen. Einkaufsmöglichkeiten (Supermärkte) mit dem Auto ca. 3 km vom Camping. Mit dem Velo zu gefährliche Strecke zu den Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Bei Ankunft an Réception "Ferienmagazin 2019" auf Französisch erhalten. Es gibt an der Réception auch eine Englische Ausgabe, aber keine Deutsche. Im Office de Tourisme in Guérande gab (bzw. gibt) es auch eine deutsche Ausgabe davon. Die deutsche Ausgabe könnten sich die Campingeigentümer für ihre deutschsprachigen Gäste ebenfalls beschaffen.

MUSS: Besuch von Guérande (mittelalterliche Stadt), ca. 3 km mit dem Auto; mit dem Velo ca. 6 km (an der Réception den ungefährlichen Veloweg erklärt bekommen) Velotour durch die Salzgewinnungsanlagen nach Le Croisic. Besuch von Piriac-sur-Mer Wir fuhren mit dem Auto nach Piriac-sur-Mer und dann mit den Velos Richtung Pénestin und zurück (ca. 65 km). Leider ist die Veloroute miserabel (!) ausgeschildert. Besuch des Hafens von Saint-Nazaire Wir fuhren mit dem Auto nach La Baule (ca.13 km) und dann mit dem Velos nach Saint-Nazaire (hin und zurück ca. 50 km) Besuch des Fischereihafens von La Turballe (ca. 12 km vom Campingplatz)

We have just spent two fantastic weeks at this site, it is small and really safe for young children (ours are 4 & 7) they cycled round and round all day and enjoyed the pool, which is small, safe and super clean and tidy. The toilets and shower facilities are immaculate too! Our hedged pitch was huge, big enough for our large tent, car and still space for the boys to play tennis! The campsite owner and his wife again were really friendly and helpful, giving us a personal guided tour of the site and its facilities and then a detailed guide of what to do in the area. There is loads, firstly the beautiful local town of Guerande, great beaches a short drive away, Batz sur Mer, Pornichet, beaches around St Nazaire.
