We have just returned from a stay in one of the caravans on the camping site. Although it is high season (August) we felt that the price was too high for the quality of accomodation and the facilities. The pool is great. It is covered so the children were able to go in on the colder days where it rained which was a godsend. Nice little park for the younger children and a Boules pitch and volley ball net.
The restaurant was over priced to the point where hardly any one ever used it. I cannot understand why they do not reduce the prices for the simple food they are offering and it would be busier and provide a nice central place to congregate.
The staff were friendly enough and the site is set in a beautiful area. However, on the day we left to catch the ferry boat from Caen, we gave in our keys. One of the staff members went to check the caravans and we were shocked to be told that the caravan must be cleaned from top to bottom before we could leave with our 100 euro deposit. No cleaning materials were provided so we had to use washing up liquid and the one dishcloth that we had brought with us. We cleaned the caravan to the best of our ability with the limited resources we had, but we were very unsettled to know that the caravans would not be cleaned further for the next guests due to check in on the same day. The information provided was that we were to leave the caravan as we found it. We obviously cleared up and swept it out, but presumed that the cleaner would come in to clean after we had left.
It seems wrong to expect the guests who are paying a large fee for the caravan are then expected to save the campsite money by not employing a cleaner and expecting the guests to do it all before they leave for a huge long journey home.
We paid 6 euros per person for a set of sheets which were mismatched and not a complete set. We had to keep going to the owners to remind them about bedding on the first day and even though we checked in at 2pm, we only received our sheets at 9pm that evening.
Although there were some good things about the campsite, we would not return as we felt the prices were generally too high and there was a sense that the owner was trying to get as much as she could out of...

Read moreWe rented a chalet on this site for two weeks in mid June 2024. Had we seen the Trip Advisor photos dating from around 2016/17 beforehand we would probably not have booked. The site has changed completely and is now part of the Yelloh Village group. It has new wood clad chalets, most old white mobile homes have gone. The interior was up to date and everything was very clean and well maintained inside and outside on the site generally. ||We felt that the chalets were too close together where we were (ours was called Pipeline) and from some aspects we felt overlooked. The site is in woodland which shaded our deck completely so we never had the opportunity to lounge in the sun. We found the staff very pleasant and very helpful.||Work to update the site is still ongoing but this was unobtrusive. For example, there is a very attractive pool area with covered pool with a sliding roof that allows use in all weathers and nearby what looked like a beach was being built but this was screened off. There were no changing rooms or toilets, maybe for the future? A bar and restaurant were nearby. We never saw the restaurant open and the bar, normally open around lunch time and early evening sometimes closed unexpectedly.|A few essential groceries were on sale near the bar. Croissants and bread could be ordered for collection the next day.||The WIFI sometimes had no signal and the TV needed two remote controls to work it. We had to ask for written instructions and also had a tutorial from 2 of the staff within a few minutes of asking.||We had not visited the area before and the enjoyed our stay very much. La Turballe. About 2 miles away is a lively port with loads of cafés, restaurants, good supermarkets and a long sandy beach. There are many other attractive small towns nearby, most with...
