Spent one night in mid-January at Le Millepertuis in Plaine des Cafres and it was phenomenal. After our arrival we had coffee, tea and biscuits with the owner, Bernard. He was very friendly, kind, well-organized, and professional. Situated on the family farm, there are goats, chickens, and other animals which contributes to the relaxed, rural atmosphere. Also, for breakfast we were able to eat fresh hard-boiled eggs and yogurt, thanks to these animals. There were a couple of great options to eat for dinner, within ten minutes by car. Bernard suggested "Tinto's" for us and we absolutely loved it, delicious fondu and crêpes! By chance, we also fell upon the festival "Miel Vert" and there were hundreds of people with lots of amusement park attractions, food and music. Finally, the rooms were comfortable and very neat and clean. One of my favorite places I've stayed in Réunion without a doubt. One last thing - there is also free wifi which is yet...
Read moreWe had a wonderful stay at Le Millepertuis in June. Bernard (owner) and his family were wonderful hosts and made us feel welcome from the beginning. The guesthouse/cabin is part of a small organic farm. I talked with a local who stated he drives 40 km each week to get his eggs from the Le Millepertuis farm, because they are the best organic option. The cabin was very nice, clean, comfortable, and made a perfect starting point to drive to the Volcano (Piton de la Fournaise) trail head early in the morning. The hike up the volcano and the view from the lookout were the highlights of our trip. Reunion is a stunning island that you must see to understand. We would highly recommend Le Millepertuis. Apparently, my partner and I were the first people from the US to stay here. Our French is pretty poor, but Bernard did a fantastic job communicating in English. Reunion is a...
