Arrived on a Sunday at 14.00 to be told to return at 16.00 to book in. Was told we could use the swimming pool whilst waiting. I went to have a swim, my husband went to look at the facilities. The site advertised- mini market, bar, restaurant, snack bar and pizzeria. Bread had to be ordered the day before. The mini market comprised a unit containing dried goods and tins. So on our day of arrival there was no bread, no cheese, cold meat, no chilled or fresh produce. No pizzeria, no snack bar. I had to leave the pool, get dressed and we had to drive into Sarlat to search for some food. The restaurant was expensive and the beer and wine were not chilled enough. ||When we were allocated our mobile home, we were put at one of the very furthest mobile homes, away from the facilities, in a very isolated, unkempt area. No other clients were near us. My husband has mobility problems and could not walk from the mobile home to the bar, reception, and facilities. We asked at reception if we could move nearer to the facilities. We were told it wasn't possible. We would have paid any difference in the fees, but it wasn't offered to us.The site was very quiet with not many clients. It appeared that the mobile homes by the swimming pool and near to the facilities had been allocated to French clients. ||The mobile home had a decking area, there was a drop down onto the surrounding ground, there was no fencing and it felt dangerous, and particularly difficult for my husband to negotiate. It was uneven and there were weeds growing through the decking. The area was very poorly maintained around the mobile home.||We were very disappointed in the position of the mobile home, and the site and facilities available. We left a day early to travel to Spain, where we had a much warmer welcome.||The site had only opened the previous day. If we had realised that the site would not be up and running to an appropriate level of preparedness we would not have...
Read moreIt wasn't a good start, everything shuts down at 12, I mean it, it was like a ghost town. Went to check in, was told you have to wait, check in is at 4. Really rude too. Whilst waiting in the car, 2 young couples pulled up, walked to reception & checked in....at 13.55! OK, so it's like that is it?|Finally had keys to mobile home, took my shoes off to walk in (I always do) I should have kept them on (see foot pics). The place was filthy. It took us 2 hours and a trip to the supermarket to get it clean. The fridge had been off and it was horrendous. We had to wait outside for the smell to dissipate. Finally felt clean enough to go to bed, had driven 810 miles and was shattered! Day 2, went to have food, no oven! I couldn't believe it, decrepit microwave, but no oven. Had to throw the food we'd bought in the supermarket as we couldn't cook it! Absolutely gutted. Even with all this it would have been manageable, but, every single day the place behind ours (which housed the workers of the site) had a dog barking and howling (obviously as it didnt like being locked in). All day! It only stopped when they came home. 4 times we went to complain but as I've said previously, everything is shut for 4 hours. I ended up buying ear plugs in the pharmacie, just to have peace to read my book! We left 2 days early, I just couldn't cope with it. So there we go, we've been holidaying in france for 22 years and have never had to leave early. There is no eurocamp presence on the site, no reps or way of communication. I did email but was fobbed off with "oh yes we're sorry about that, hope you can enjoy your stay though", ridiculous. There are some lovely campsites in the dordogne, we've stayed in one for 10 years, this year we felt like a change, won't do that again. Will stick to...
Read moreWe had a lovely 2 weeks on this campsite. I was worried about the negative reviews but it was fine. The mobile home was dated but we were hardly in it so that didn't bother us. It had large decking & wasn't over looked. We were very close yo the animations & bar but everything was quiet by 11pm. ||The food is limited in variety but tasty & reasonably priced. The animations were ok the first week but poor the second. Obviously French orientated which is tricky for quizzes etc but it didn't bother us.||Bread & croissants are available if ordered the day prior but they're expensive & 1 day we were let down. The shop on site is tiny & the site is in the middle of nowhere so you need a car. Lots of hyper markets in sarlat.||It says sarlat is 5k away. That's not true. You have to drive or cycle & it's about 10k. The roads are narrow & it's hilly so a bike ride is tough unless you have electric bikes (which most people in the area have). There is a cycle track but its not easy to find but it's worth taking that over the roads. ||Sarlat is beautiful, markets on weds & Saturday but don't drive in as it's very busy. We visited souillac, rocamadour, beynac, domme & it's just beautiful. ||My only disappointment was that we couldn't walk anywhere from the campsite as we do like to do that & I had oped to walk into Sarlat in an evening but that wasn't possible. ||The pool can get busy & sadly people put towels on beds & disappear for most of the day which is annoying but all in all we had...
