Castle Maraval — Hotel in Sarlat-la-Canéda

My wife and I stayed at the Chateau Maraval for six nights during June. The Chateau and grounds are beautiful as well as perfectly maintained. Everything is spotless and beautiful. The Chateau is very unique in that the exterior has been kept in the original style while the interior is modern, but in a most pleasing way. The interior decorating was superb and is a perfect counterpoint to the exterior. All of the art work, furniture, flooring, colors, were selected with care and an exceptional eye toward creating a place which is at once old and new. The feeling we got was of a peaceful and serene surrounding whether we were indoors or out. Our room was beautiful, with plenty of space and with a very efficient air conditioner (a BIG plus for me). The breakfasts are excellent with a great variety each day. I particularly enjoyed the different fresh fruits prepared in a number of styles, plus the home made breads and cakes. Eggs to order if you wish plus everything you would expect in a Chateau of this class. The truly exceptional part of our visit was interacting with Ann Marie and Thierry (the owners). They are warm, caring, hard working, helpful and generous people. It was a treat for us to spend time with them at their beautiful Chateau and we will return as often...

We spent 2 nights in this amazing property, could easily have stayed longer and hope to return soon.|From the moment you drive through the gates and up the shady gravel drive, you know that you that you’re in for something special. The building and grounds are simply stunning and surrounded by mature trees, the only sound is birdsong.|The interior has been completely renovated with such a sense of flair and style and with such attention to detail that you know you are in safe hands.|The facilities are excellent - a large heated swimming pool, beautiful garden, relaxing lounge and dining areas with coffee, drinks and home made cake and even a gym and spa all beautifully decorated and appointed.|The whole place is immaculately maintained and spotlessly clean. The rooms are beautiful and original-we stayed in the ‘Ethnique’ room which had an african-inspired theme and an outstanding bathroom in one of the chateau’s turrets.|Anne-Marie and Thierry are so friendly and helpful, they really make the stay special - nothing is too much trouble, they genuinely want you to have the best time and their suggestions for restaurants and places to visit are spot on. My wife and I stayed one night at Chateau de Maravel, and that is a regret! I’d loved to have stayed several days. From our research we had high expectations and we weren’t let down.||Owners, Anne-Marie and Thierry, left behind business careers to establish Chateau de Maravel, and they have created a perfect statement, retaining the historic external features of the Chateau while completely transforming the interior into an ultra modern boutique hotel. ||The hotel is set on large, leafy grounds, complete with pool. We needed to unwind after several days on the road, and Maravel provided the quiet oasis that we wanted; we had the pool to ourselves during the afternoon.||Our room, one of only four in the hotel, the Ethnique, was exquisitely fitted out. ||Chateau Maravel is situated several kilometres from town, and it does not have a restaurant.
