We stayed here last week for 3 nights.||We we're not charmed by the place. Too clean and less character.||The building itself is not a 'Vila' but a little Ikea look-alike construction.||Very friendly welcome from Gilles. ||We stayed in the cocoon room, but for us too small. ||The other rooms are more spacey.||The view over the Perigord landscape is very beautiful, swimming pool nice.||Maybe a good door into the pool installation would be great, because the filter is making quiet a sound , day and night.||So was a machine , I think a watertank on the roof, just above our bed, that made every few minutes a terrible noise.||We are not B+B fans, but the Corona situation made us chose for very small places.||The temperatures were very tropical around 40 degrees, and in the garden we're no secluded shade places. No trees, no private parts , ||only one tree in front of the building, very uncomfortable deckchairs.||And to much rules what to do and what not do do. ||It was not allowed to eat something in the garden or in the room.||No possibility for lunch, so you have to drive almost half an hour for a restaurant.||Breakfast was to little and not very good.||I aspect in summer in France a good plate with fresh fruits, it that too much asked for the price we payed? And a good cup of real expresso ?||It is all a matter of taste and quality, but we we're not very satisfied with the place,||And we do not like to share tables with other people, and every morning an introduction who was from where etc ! Sorry, but this was not our cup of tea.||||Stefan...
Read moreWe spent a fabulous week in October visiting the area by bike and car. Villa Lascaux is so quiet, so comfortable and so “Green”. It’s a modern passive solar house and even with frost several nights, the house stayed cozy and warm (with no gas or electric heat!!!) The view is wonderful and it’s a great place to relax or serve as the perfect location for discovering the best of Dordogne. Host Gilles was able to map out some great bike routes for us to visit several of the numerous “Plus Beaux Villages de France” in the area, as well as the caves of Lascaux (among the most famous in the world) with Paleolithic cave paintings. We rode from 20cm-45km each day. He knows all the best scenic small roads to take and routes to avoid traffic. He suggested a wonderful lunch spot for our picnic on the banks of the Vézère River, across from the Chateau de Losse. It was fantastic. We had several wonderful meals cooked by Sylvie using all local ingredients and she made a wonderful soup with chestnuts that we brought back from one of our rides. Gilles and Sylvie are incredible hosts! We highly recommend Villa Lascaux for any adventure you plan to take...
Read moreWe were lucky enough to be the first UK visitors to stay at Villa Lascaux after lockdown! We were warmly welcomed and immediately in awe of the stunning surroundings and incredible contemporary villa. The hosts are so warm and welcoming. Their local knowledge is superb and greatly assists in planning your itinerary for the day! They will involve themselves as much as you choose, or give you space to be independent! You could spend the day at the villa, relaxing in the pool or hot tub and enjoying the spectacular view from your balcony or the lounging chairs on the lawn, but there is so much to do! We went to Sarlat, Beynac and La Roque De Gageac. Unbelievable! We also took the hosts advice and stopped off at Oradour Sur Glane as we headed north, a superb recommendation! We can not recommend this place enough! Incredibly clean, strikingly modern, beautiful surroundings, beautiful interior and exterior, superb hosts! It was voted as one of the top 30 guesthouses in France and you can see why!!! Extremely reasonable and well...
