Takes a while to get to, off the beaten track, but therefore quiet and secluded. Might be a bit tricky to drive to with a large camper, but several seem to manage it. Offers all you need but we often drove the half an hour for grocery shopping. To be honest though, the campsite supermarket (Proxi) has a good stock and prices don’t seen much more than the main supermarkets in town. Plus you save the journey and the often frustrating wait at the checkout! Two main beaches are clean and great for bathing, snorkeling, standup, windsurfing… or just laying in the sun. Also very sheltered, so often when the sea is rough the beach is completely flat and calm. A short walk south, outside the campsite, there are several very small beaches, often with clearer bluer water. A very popular sandy public beach is a good 40 min walk, but well worth it. Swimming pool is very clean and nice for an alternative. Lifeguard is always present. Mini golf is available, for free i believe. Sauna is also a great bonus to end the day with, open till 8pm, also free. Evenings there is often free live music in the restaurant. We stayed in a bungalow in September, expensive but nice to have the luxury of kitchen and your own bathroom. Camping ground is a large area, it’s difficult to see where the pitches are, i guess they may have a plan. Wash facilities provide all you need, as to be expected, even a dog shower area. Always seemed well cleaned and maintained.
Don’t believe booking websites that say it is fully booked, give them a call, they speak English, German, most definitely Italien ;-) , and French. Reception is friendly. Seems like 24 hr security at the gate and they keep a close eye on who comes and goes. Cars have to stay outside in the car park (which is good), but you can drive in shortly, for example to unload shopping, and on the first and last days of your stay for packing.
All in all a great place to stay, highly recommended. We...
Read moreBack for the second time within a day! Unfortunately our car broke down soon after leaving La Chiappa and we ended up having an extra week's impromptu stay, this time in one of the bungalows.
Staff were very helpful with booking us in at the last minute, and also kindly rang and spoke to the VW garage in French regarding our car repairs, etc.
We enjoyed our stay, this time in a bungalow rather than camping because we had to leave our tent behind in the car when taking a taxi to La Chiappa.
Although there is a 'no vehicle' policy on the campsite - there was still a lot of traffic which spoilt the ambiance a bit.
There is lots to do: boules, volleyball, tennis, walking, a children's play area, water aerobics, arts & crafts, yoga, sailing, snorkelling, scuba diving, and much more. There is a well equipped supermarket on site so you don't have to leave the campsite to go into town if you don't want to. There are also restaurants on site too.
I noted from a comment that there were quite a few clothed people around, even though it is a naturist campsite. Something to bear in mind is that Hippocampe Dive Centre and Surf Spot are open to the public so you will get 'textile' people coming in to make use of the dive centre and Surf Spot.
We loved living the way nature intended. It was wonderful and we...
Read morePositive: The location is wonderful on the beach with a super warm and calm sea. A paradise if you like snorkelling amongst shoals of fish. The restaurants and bars are staffed by the friendliest staff with lovely smiles at all times and when we ate at the restaurant every meal was excellent. I have seen other comments suggesting that the restaurant is expensive...well go and visit Porto Vecchio and find what expensive is! There are cheaper meals (and pizza) and the best bet is to choose the daily specials which proved for us to be both tasty and reasonably priced. The pools are clean and welcoming.. Negative: The accommodations are very basic and the shop only has the very basic needs, so you need to visit a big supermarket off site to stock up if you are eating in the chalets. The trek to the chalets in incredible heat was quite challenging, but maybe good exercise? The general appearance of chalets is a bit tired. My biggest complaint would be that we were given rules of the site at reception...no cars outside of the chalets, full nudity at the beach and swimming pools, but no one actually policed these rules and consequently, for a resort advertising as naturist there were too many people clothed at both pool and beach. And dogs on the beach!!!!Aaaaaagh!! There were cars parked all around us the...
