Read moreI've stayed in many Intercontinental hotels all over the world and the service/experience is usually excellent.|Unfortunately it was not the case here, I'll start with the negatives.||Check in was painfully slow, it's quite a small reception area and there was always a big queue, only one person was working behind the desk. After around 15 minutes I made it to the front, there was no mention of my diamond elite status or the benefits which is usually the norm. I was quite early (12.30) so understandably the room wasn't ready.|I decided to grab a drink outside and wait. After 30 minutes, noone had brought any menus over. I managed to grab one of the waiters and asked for 2 beers. 30 mins later, still no sign. I walked to the front and mentioned to the waitress I'd been waiting 30 mins for my drinks and she could cancel the order. She shrugged and said "no problem".|It was now around 2.45pm and still no news on the room. I spoke to the receptionist, voiced my concern and she called Theo the guest relationship manager. He apologised, mentioned they are facing service issues and the staff are new.||On our last evening, we sat outside, the only free table was full of empty plates and glasses that hadn't been cleared away. I saw the same guy who forgot my drinks the previous day and asked for a menu. 15 mins later, nothing.|I walked over to the bar to explain the issue to the manager and he sorted it straight away.||Other points:|The gym was quite small and limited in terms of equipment. Also the sauna was closed the 2 days I was there.|WiFi in the room was almost unusable.|Lunch in the restaurant was average, 30 euros for fish and chips and 40 euros for truffle pasta. Both dishes were quite bland.||The good stuff:|Theo the guest relations manager was excellent.|I didn't catch his name but the bar manager was very professional.|Breakfast was decent with a good variety |The grounds and views were nice.||To summarise, most of these issues were service related and should not be present in a hotel of...
Read moreThe InterContinental Chantilly Château Mont Royal. It has an interesting history. The original chateau building was constructed in the early 20th century by the architect Guillaume Tronchet in the Louis XVI style. The chateau was originally built as a country residence for the aristocracy of the early 20th century, and the architecture still shows the features of the "transition" - the classical austerity of the Louis XVI style is intertwined with the light eclecticism of the Belle Époque. The hotel is located in the Chantilly forest, which creates a sense of a secluded reserve surrounded by Nature . Despite the proximity of Paris (only about 40 km), the hotel remains a quiet refuge in the forest - a feeling of being in a country castle rather than just a hotel. The hotel has 109 rooms and suites, the interiors of which are inspired by the bionic environment, the equestrian traditions of the region and the subtleties of Chantilly lace . Many rooms have a view of the forest, and many have balconies or terraces. Unfortunately, there is a highway nearby, and the noise sometimes reaches the hotel. This disrupts the peaceful atmosphere. The chateau has two restaurants: L'Opera, located in the former music salon, and Le Stradivarius, which occupies the former library. The latter is quite small, and when there are many guests, it can become noisy. The restaurants offer dishes made with local ingredients, such as game, cheese from Picardy, and, of course, the famous "à la Chantilly" cream. The cuisine is excellent, and I highly recommend it. The hotel also features the Biologique Recherche Spa, a sauna and a swimming pool, which is sometimes closed. The hotel's concierge can arrange for guests to visit local attractions such as the Chantilly Racecourse or the Chantilly Castle, which houses a private collection of paintings. In addition to the racecourse and castle, the area is also home to golf courses and equestrian schools, as the region has long been renowned as a center for equestrian...
