The chalet hosts and staff gave us a warm friendly welcome on our arrival. We were transferred promptly into Morzine resort, and back to the chalet in the afternoon by the private chalet mini bus. ||The chalet food was varied and pleasant for the first half of our week. We were offered alternative suggestions for guests on request. ||However the last two evening meals were very disappointing. We felt there was excessive use of rice and the standard had significantly dropped from the meals at the start of the week. ||We were also unaware that staff had two mornings off and we would not have a hot ||breakfast option for two consecutive days of ||our stay. The Mountain Maverick website does not make this clear and indicates that the chalet staff have one day off, providing you with a cold buffet option for that one morning.||The food offered at breakfast and evening meal was very limited from Wednesday and consisted mostly of bread and rice. ||The tea bags provided were unpleasant making a very weak and grey looking tea, however long you left it stewing for. ||We therefore sourced our own teabags for the duration of our stay. ||We were disappointed with the soft drink ||allowance for those adults and children who did not want wine with the meal. The only option offered was the breakfast apple or orange juices included in the allowance. ||Coca-cola or tonic water where the only other non-alcoholic options offered using an honesty bar system and charged at €1. The party therefore sourced their own soft drinks ||to provide more choice for the adults and ||children who were not having wine with their meal. ||On the Mountain Maverick website it does not indicate sharing any of the rooms with ||the chalet staff. On several occasions when ||guests returned or where in the chalet the staff could be found in the downstairs T.V room so our party felt they could not ||comfortably access all areas of the chalet at ||times. ||Generally the chalet looked tired and in need of some attention. ||There was evidence of a leaking roof in some of the bedrooms which had caused ||staining down the walls which looked ||unsightly. ||The wall paper in the bedrooms was very tired, peeling off and torn in places. ||The downstairs toilet seat was in need of repair and actually did break when someone sat on it. ||The decking area and wooden chairs at the ||front of the chalet were unsafe. Some of the ||planks on the decking were actually broken and some of the wooden chairs were unstable and unsafe when used and sat on.||There were numerous cobwebs in the bedrooms and communal areas upstairs. ||The bedrooms had not been well dusted and ||the surfaces on the bed room furniture and bed heads were covered in quite thick dust. ||A lot of the bath robes had no cords, and ||towels were not provided for use with the hot ||tub as indicated on Mountain Maverick website photos. ||The bathroom bins or towels were not ||emptied or changed during our week stay. ||||In summary the chalet hosts were welcoming ||and friendly at the beginning of the week, but ||standards particularly in regards to food deteriorated during the week. The variety of food offered became very limited. The ||allowance and choices for those not drinking ||wine with the evening meal was very poor. ||The chalet is looking tired and rundown. The images of the chalet on the website are not a ||true reflection of its state in reality or of the ||high standard of food it promises to offer. The services provided by the chalet staff fell short of satisfactory at times particularly in ||respect of the cleanliness of the chalet, the ||laundry service and general house keeping. ||We had very high expectations for this chalet based on Chalet Edit recommendation and also the description of the chalet, the||outstanding service and extensively researched food and wine that the Mountain Maverick website...
Read moreMy husband and I have just returned from a week of snowboarding having stayed at Chalet Chambertin. It's our second time here and it was every inch as perfect as the first. Reading the previous review, it's hard to believe that we stayed at the same place as the reviewer as the chalet and it's staff could not be more professional, thoughtful and hard working. The chalet itself is beautiful, spacious and homely. The chalet hosts, Matt and Mel were absolutely amazing and such great fun. They bust a gut to deliver awesome meals, keep our drinks topped up and entertain us with hilarious stories. Callum dropped us to the mountains every day and picked us up from our desired destination, nothing was too much trouble for these guys! ||||My husband and I have changed our diets since our first trip, one of us being vegetarian and the other vegan. Whilst this can be problematic in some cases, Matt ensured that he adhered to our needs without the blink of an eye and the food was absolutely LUSH (so much so that we've been picking his brain for recipes!) ||||Overall, the Mountain Mavericks team go out of their way to look after their guests and my husband and I fail to see how anyone could be dissatisfied with the service provided. Thank you for making our holiday as...
Read moreThe chalet is less than ten minutes from the main Morzine access gondola, Les Prodains, that takes you to the heart of the Avoriaz village. You essentially never have to carry your skis because the minibus is door-to-door, makes 2 main runs in the morning and wonderfully efficient (hi, we're at the bottom at 16:30; ok see you then). If not, the Morzine free bus is almost as easy. Bed and en-suite bath rooms very comfortable and restful - bubbling brook if you open the window. Breakfasts are ample, afternoon tea is home baked cakes. Dinners are uniformly excellent and have a chic touch - bravo Kirsty and also Steve (be prepared for the iconic nightly cheese service pun/joke delivered in an accent that would move any Scottish mother to tears).|Sauna, outdoor hot tub great. Paid massage service superb. Minibus lift service to hit the bars...
