The owners are extremely kind. The location is so conveniently close to the highway. The village itself is a bit, well, neutral. But the castle is a gem. Parking is not a problem (just in front of the outside walls), and then you get inside, walking on beautiful flagstones, worn out by centuries of busy people.||||Each and every room is unique. We stayed there many times; my preferred one is a dining room sporting a gigantic fireplace, a grand oak table, and an old iron stove that just screams to be in a museum.||Some of the wooden furniture are masterpieces. I indulge in a bit of woodworking, and some of the craftsmanship I saw there brought tears on my eyes - literally.||||We often asked the owners to provide dinner - they can, if you arrange things in advance. It was always nice, and presented with kindness and grace. You will eat with ancient silver cutlery, and did you ever sip your wine from a 200 years old crystal goblet? Oh, and it will the wine the owners produce themselves, by the way.||||The breakfast! The owner walks to the local baker to get fresh baguettes and pain-au-chocolate. Home-made jams and jellies are served in antique crystal jars. There is butter, and superb French cheeses.||||The park is stunning, magnificent. Every detail is just perfect. The trees are breathtaking: my favorite is a chestnut that soars for at least 30 meters, like a green, imposing tower. In summer one can walk the many hectares of the park, or just sit and enjoy the sun.||||Last, but not the least: the price is like the place, unbelievable. Last time it was 60 euro for our room, and included...
Read moreMy family and I stayed for a couple of nights in August and had a wonderful time here. The building is beautiful as are the surrounding areas where you can walk the grounds or relax. We stayed in the West Wing and it is huge and very charming, you could spend hours admiring the decor. The rooms are grand and very clean with a nice view out of the balcony on to the Château grounds.
It has a huge fireplace and plenty of wood to spend an evening relaxing by the fireplace. If the weather is nice you can enjoy a glass of wine outside on the bistro chairs. The breakfast was amazing, every item was locally sourced and delicious. The cheese platter is certainly worth getting and is also locally produced.
We managed to catch part of the wine tour but really wished we could have stayed longer. There are some nice walks to explore the local area so be sure to ask Maria for some routes. The area is lovely and quiet and there are no crowds of tourists or busy traffic to contend with which makes exploring so much easier.
We'll always remember our stay here and we will certainly stay again on our next travels in France. They are very pet friendly so you can bring...
Read moreWe spend two nights in Château de Choloy in March. Very clean and charming apartment in an old chateau with a lots of history behind. Family LVB hosted us as we were part of the family, nice breakfast at our choices and a very tasty dinner made by Madame Loevenbruck. Which we were lucky to try a traditional dish from region. The cherry on the cake was visiting the vineyard with Monsieur Loevenbruck including wine tasting from their cooperative. We absolutely recommend this place and don’t forget to spend some time around the chateau garden to reconnect with your soul .
Room was extremely clean and the bed was really...
