Very bad experience. We arrived late yesterday, around 20.30, and we didn’t have a reservation but there were plenty of empty spots. Unfortunately, reception was already closed at 19.00, so there was nobody to help (also not to reach by phone).
Me and my 7 months pregnant girlfriend didn’t know what to do, but decided to park our camper van on the parking space in front and first make some food. We ate this at empty table next to reception (within the camping area), still figuring about our next move.
Apparently the camping owners were home and came to us with a very defensive approach. Honestly, we said we understood that we were technically trespassing, and we apologized. Also said we were kind of desperate and asked if it was ok to stay for the night on the parking lot in front. That was ok.
At the parking lot we set up, and we were just shutting off the lights at 22.30 to go to sleep, when I woman was aggressively started knocking on our camper van, saying we had to leave. I quickly tried to put on some clothes, asking if it was possible to have a conversation. No conversation possible. Apparently, some water from the sink wasn’t switch off and had leaked from our camper. We didn’t do this on purpose. She made us feel like 16 year old bullying kids, me being 35 year old saying sorry and asking for a reasonable talk. I tried to explain we had permission and my pregnant girlfriend was already in bed. She just stayed verbally very aggressive, saying that’s not her problem and threatening to call the police.
Honestly, I just don’t understand when as a camping owner you are not welcoming to any guests. Seemed like there was plenty of space to book a night. But also if someone arrives after 19.00 not to treat them like intruders. Really, really no...
Read moreAt first we were quite happy with the place. All the camping spots are equally tall, all have at least some shade, the bathrooms were clean. But on our second night the unbelievable thing happened: our tent got slashed with a knife on the sides by people who tried to steal money etc. Fortunately nothing got stolen from us but we met two other campers (with tents) who got robbed this way. The assistant assured us that this was the first time this has happened. I believe him but I am very unhappy with how the camp manager handled the situation. I wrote them an email asking for compensation and never got a reply. To the assistant that phoned him after the incident he also only said that “people should be careful and look after their valuables”. I find that quite disappointing. I understand that it is not the camp managers fault (even thought they should consider hiring a night guard for the high season) but it would have been nice to hear at least some sort of “sorry” and maybe the offer of at least a free night.
We will definitely not come back and found all other campsites visited in France to have a much better...
Read moreThis site claims to have a restaurant and website shows a pool. The restaurant is closed and only has some things on Sunday’s if you are lucky. When you check in they can’t find your booking and then when they do, they want you to pay again. The pool is a municipal pool not belonging to the site and only opens Saturday and Sunday in peak July and August. The shop is just some shelves in reception with long life (2 year) lasagne and some bags of pasta and some tourist biscuits. It is very poor. The male washrooms have showers with just a pipe sticking out the wall and loose with no seats. The calcium deposits on the walls are almost turning into stalictites. The so called library / pool room is an eight by ten room that is dark and pokey. The so called childrens playground has one swing and some run down ping pong tables. You can order croissants the day before but hardly worth the wait till 9am to each such small items. The signpost off the highway gives the name of a different campsite just to make even less chance of finding it. So yes it is a fantastic...
