We stayed one night at this stately chateau in order to visit Chateau Azay Le Rideau and nearby Chinon. It lies just outside the small town of Azay-Le-Rideau, in a peaceful spot, surrounded by greenery.|It was a lovely change of pace from hotels and we were warmly welcomed by both Hubert and Sophie into their family home. |We stayed on the first floor, in the ‘Eloise’ room which was at the top of a grand staircase. The room was at the front of the chateau, and was a spacious room with a lovely view overlooking the grounds. It was beautifully decorated, with antique furniture, paintings, a fireplace, and a writing desk that overlooked the garden. However there were modern touches with a kettle for coffee and tea and the bathroom was modern and bright.|Breakfast is included and is served in the sunny, front room. It was a generous continental breakfast, served at your table.|I would highly recommend a stay at Chateau du Gerfaut, with HIbert and Sophie who are wonderful hosts.|NOTE: There is no lift (which is of course normal in a period chateau). As we were only staying one night, we were able to take just a small overnight bag upstairs.
