First of all I have to say that we really enjoyed the surroundings and the warm welcome from the hosts. We really got on well with the proprietors, who were most homely.||Just to be fair to those who are thinking of going there I think there are one or two things you should be aware of.||The cottage is very nice but is a bit dated and "hiddle pididty".. The grounds are very nice with a very nice heated pool. As long as you are prepared to put up with an elderly dog with a cancerous growth on it's mouth, constantly looking for food outside your accommodation.( It did not bother us as we are both animal lovers), then you will enjoy it. (the dog will probably not be there next year)||The place is about 5km from the nearest civilization, so fine for peace and quiet, and suited us for some wonderful quiet evenings eating outdoors.||Others have mentioned The owner being a "chain smoker" which he is, but we got on well with him and found him most amicable. In fact he was able to make some valuable contacts for us to enjoy some vineyards and other attractions in the area.||Overall we would highly recommend this cottage, but only for those who are not looking for perfection, but like a nice laid back experience,||We really would like to rate this much higher, with a few improvements , this...
Read moreAfter experiencing some difficulty in finding the house we were exhausted after a long journey and looked forward to a relaxing bath and evening meal. When we made this booking more than a year ago we had requested to reserve an evening meal. Imagine then our surprise when we were told that no food was available but that a reservation had been made at a local restaurant approx 12k away, Neither my husband or myself drive in the dark, especially on strange roads and up a dirt track so we asked to book a taxi. As we sat in the back of the taxi we watched to meter and when it registered 50 euros I asked if we had much further to go - we were only half way. The restaurant was in fact over 20k away! In short we had an excellent meal (separate review) but it cost us 115 euros - negotiated the price with the driver for the return journey ( 70 euros there and 45 euros return) The meal cost 109 euros. The patron of this establishment had also sent some other people there on the same night so she clearly has an 'arrangement'. The lady of the house had a whole year to let us know that food was not provided in the evenings - instead she chose to ignore our request. We would have booked elsewhere and in spite of the fact that the house is beautiful we...
Read moreStayed in the gite opposite main house which does B&b as in previous review. This accommodation appears on first impressions as you drive up, very picturesque and olde worlde as can be seen from other review 2006. The swimming pool was lovely and we did use it and we were happy with the location (need car but we knew this). However, inside of gite appears to have been furnished with equipment and furnishings which should really be disposed of (in hindsight all brochure pictures were of the outside). Lid up on cesspit all week so assume broke as several chaps looking down it and smells wafting. Not really enough room for 4 adults to sit comfortably to eat at wobbly table or watch telly. We put this one down to experience - not to...
