Like many others, we stopped here en route home from the French Alps. A warm welcome from Madam Host, she then takes you to one of three rooms they have available with in the chateau, you are greeted by a very traditional room, complete with wood panelling and views over the paddock where the families horses are kept. Unlike many an old place in France, the en suite facilities are modern and fantastic, complete with a huge walk in shower.||||The chateau has been with the same family since the '50's, and it was a shame that my less than school boy French didn't allow me to find out more about the place. There are also some lovely walks in the grounds, and it's well worth a stroll.||||After a peaceful nights sleep, we were then provided with what is probably the best breakfast I have had in France, the usual pain and croissants of course, but also jams and honey from the chateau, together with home baked cakes.||||The chateau was great value in my opinion, but be warned they don't have credit card facilities, so make sure you have sufficient cash with you.||||Only one word of warning, and nothing to do with the chateau, the nearest restaurant is the hotel in Piney, please read its reviews before visiting! We would certainly not go back there!||||To end on a positive note, the Chateau de Brantigny is truly superb, and well worth visiting even if it is slightly out of your way. I just wish they offered a...
Read moreThis family-run chateau has been one of the highlights of our trip across the Champagne-Burgundy areas of France due to its authenticity and hospitality of its hosts. The chateau has a great atmosphere and offers an excellent combination of staying in a historical place (that dates back to 1640, according to the hosts) and spending time surrounded by nature and rural life. The 30-hectare park provides good opportunities for walks. Our 4-year-old daughter especially enjoyed being close to horses and sheep.||||The rooms are very nice. The breakfast was excellent, with a lot of handmade products offered. Nathalie is a great host and she made our stay very comfortable and nice. As it was mentioned here before, she does not speak English, but I am sure it should not be a problem for anyone. Probably some mobile technology could help... Fortunately, my wife speaks some (basic) French and that was enough. ||||Important to mention, this B&B offers great value for money, as rooms are priced at 130 - 160 EUR / night, including fabulous breakfast and minibar.||||I could mention perhaps only one potential improvement - some elementary cleaning, like emptying trash bins, during a stay for a few nights (like ours) would be welcomed. But everything else was just splendid.||||I highly...
Read moreAmazing property that's full of views, history and peace and quiet. We went with another couple and were the only four people in the Chateau. The family that owns it lives onsite in a number of other buildings on the property. Visiting the animals and woods is a fun additional activity. Breakfast was beyond expectations, most of the meal was actually produced onsite, including the yogurt and apple juice. Just wish we stayed more than one night!||||We stopped after driving up from Beaune and it's a good halfway point between Dijon and Reims. Easy access to Burgundy and Champagne regions. ||||Only warning is that the host doesn't speak any English. (one in our party spoke a bit of French and...
