Like everyone else, this rates a maximum for a B&B and we dined too. Belgian couple installed in this old water mill on a huge number of hectares, Christine and Patrick (yes I know that doesn't sound Belgian) are our hosts. He does the cooking to restaurant standard and she everything else ;-) It was quite busy for the two days, we were there but somehow they manage to give a personal service. They have managed to retain the character and old style of the place without compromising comfort or facilities. Dinner is classy but expensive and wine is extra so can be a little more expensive than comparable accommodation. Villereal is close by, a short cycle for bread and cheese, and worth a visit. I expect Monflanquin is too but at 147m in 35C heat we skipped it.

Extraordinaire endroit.

We turned up after a stressful day looking for a night to stay. Alex is a hilarious character from the moment we met him!

We didn’t have a reservation and he accommodated us immediately. He showed us around the rooms, offered us an excellent nightly price, he cleaned and tidied the room at short notice so we could move in to the room and he very kindly took our luggage up to our room on his own account. He even offered dinner to us at a very reasonable price of 24 € for a 2 course meal.

Alex is energetic and efficient. He was extremely accommodating making us feel comfortable and welcomed. The property is gorgeous. As with all very large properties, it’s a tad run down but it definitely adds to the beauty. It’s calm and relaxing, very spacious. The room was beautiful. Quintessential classic French style rooms, spacious, with stunning views from the balcony and the bathroom. The bed was wonderfully comfortable providing me with the best nights sleep since arriving in the country!!

The property has some walking trails near and on site. The pool is lovely, again, scenic and calming. There is a gorgeously calm dog named ‘Tak’ (if I remember correctly).

Breakfast was simple and perfect. Good coffee. Croissants 🥐 bread 🥖 butter 🧈 and jam.

We could not have had a better night after a stressful day. Merci Beaucoup pour tout Alex!!! We shall be back in...

We have stayed at the Moulin several times over the last ten years & have always left feeling rejuvenated. Its calm simplicity & elegance, rarely found in grander hotels, makes it the most tranquil & enormously charming place to stay. The bedrooms & bathrooms are huge & airy - the walls adorned with original art work & lovely finishing touches, making each room unique & individual. ||The grounds are stunning & provide some lovely secret walks & wonderful views. Alternatively you can sit under a tree on the front lawn with a book or beside the beautiful secluded swimming pool.||Supper on the terrace under the vines is very special. Patrick is an accomplished cook & the local wines compliment his innovative style. He & Christine are the most charming & natural of hosts & nothing is too much trouble. Thank you for having us & we hope to return...

We spent seven wonderful days here this month, our second visit. Nowhere has ever felt so restful. We had a fine bedroom with balcony overlooking the very large garden, there were also delightful walks over the almost fifty acres of land which forms part of the property and of course there was also a very fine pool with plenty of comforts for| sunbathing or just relaxing.|Most memorable however is the extraordinary warmth and helpfulness of Christine and Patrick whose mission clearly was to ensure that guests had a memorable stay, nothing was too much trouble for them. |Finally Patrick's cooking, helped by Christine, was superb and far superior to any meals that we had during two weeks in France. Having visited France for over thirty years this was an exceptional...
