This was THE WORST HOTEL experience we’ve ever had in Kakheti. We’ve stayed in many places in the region, and nothing even comes close to how bad this one was.
Wrong room, no care — guests left waiting.
We booked a room for 3 adults with two separate rooms, but got a double room with a child-size extra bed. Even though we informed the hotel in advance, they didn’t prepare properly. The manager, Irakli, acted like it wasn’t his problem — after briefly telling someone to “handle it,” he went off to drink coffee. We waited two hours, and no one cared until we made a scene.
Not a real hotel — just a private estate.
The place is clearly made for the owner and his family. Guests are just a side income. The focus is on golf, tennis, weddings, and private events. If you’re a regular traveler, they don’t care about your comfort or experience.
Humiliating dinner — no service at all.
While the owner’s family enjoyed full attention at the next table, we sat for over an hour without anyone even coming to take our order. We asked three different waiters and also informed the restaurant administrator — no one reacted. The restaurant manager, Viki, clearly didn’t organize the team properly. She didn’t assign enough staff for the evening and made no effort to control what was happening. As a result, the entire restaurant was overwhelmed, and regular guests like us were simply ignored.
Noise overload — no place to relax.
Techno music blasts all day near the pool. We asked to turn it down several times, but they just kept turning it back up. The pools are also freezing cold, even in hot weather. You literally have no peaceful area to rest.
Years-long construction site — chaos for visitors.
There’s been active construction on the hotel grounds for at least three years — and it’s still going. Unfinished buildings, workers, and machinery are everywhere. It ruins the entire vibe of the place.
Dirty facilities — nobody cleans anything.
The sunbeds and balconies are covered in bird droppings. No one cleans them. The furniture is old, stained, and falling apart. Only the owner’s areas seem looked after (they have a personal residence on the territory of the hotel).
Drunken fight — danger at dinner.
One night during dinner, a huge fight broke out with around 30 drunk men throwing chairs and knives. We had to run away. The hotel staff knew this group was aggressive since earlier that day, but they let them stay and did nothing to protect other guests.
Overpriced and abandoned — guests pay for nothing.
The hotel is clearly neglected. The owners have moved on to their new resort project near Batumi but still charge high prices here. They just want to squeeze every last lari out of this place while offering nothing in return.
I strongly advise against staying here. There are much better options nearby — Lopota Lake, Bodbe, Qvedrebi — all with better service, better conditions, and often even lower prices. Ambassadori Kachreti is not a hotel....

Read moreStayed here for two nights and overall I loved how spacious the hotel is, the amenities it offers, long walks there are out of this world. However, there are some points I didn’t like and compromised my stay: Staff are not bi-lingual. As a non-georgian I had a rough time communicating with people about what I need. For instance: I asked the housekeeping for an iron since the minute I got here and until now the iron wasn’t delivered. Am sure that the housekeeping didn’t understand what I want. This also has lead that when we didn’t like the food and expressed our feedback with the waiter (Rizo), he just nodded and left us as if weren’t complaining of anything. Again, because of his inability to understand us. Spa workers, restaurant waiters, security, bell boys. Basically everyone except for some of the waiters and the two receptionists speak English. This has greatly affected our stay because we felt we are not understood and our needs are not met. (Special thanks for the waiter Tornike for his sense of hospitality, kindness, and great service. You were the highlight of our visit ❤️)
Breakfast food is not labeled except for covered items. Hence, you can never know what food is being served except if you use common sense or if you’re Georgian. We had a hard time identifying food for breakfast and understanding what food is it exactly; leaving us with very limited food options even though there is a great variety of food. Unfortunately, we couldn’t try it as we have certain dietary restrictions such as Halal food and we weren’t able to identify what types of food were suitable or not. Restaurant workers do not speak English at all. Hence, no one to explain what food is where. (We communicated this concern with the receptionists but nothing changed during our visit)
Try to stay away from crowded weekends as the service gets significantly poor when there are too many people around.
Something that I noticed but can’t confirm and that I think that employees here are overworking. We stayed in the hotel for around 48 hours, in which we’ve seen the same receptionist working the whole day, then the whole night, then the whole next day. Waiters from the restaurant were the same over a long time period as well. Also, workers are significantly young in age which makes me question the working conditions for employees here.
People are not hospitable by nature. Most of workers are frowning or upset most of the time. They also lack the skills to work in the hospitality sector.
However, regardless of all of this, we loved the stay here because of the location and the great amenities it offers, but we’ve felt that the hotel doesn’t cater to the diverse needs and natures of its visitors, and I don’t think we’ll be able to recommend it whole heartedly for anyone unless they’re ok with...
